I'll start this one off.

Saud (Palossand) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Compaction
EVs: 156 HP / 100 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shore Up
- Amnesia
- Earth Power
- Giga Drain

I like the design and idea behind this new Pokemon, for once. Competitively, it doesn't have room for a ton of firepower if it's going to survive, but it does have the ability to slowly wear down opponents and be defensive. Oh, and be careful of Taunt, Roar and Whirlwind!

Anyway, this set isn't particularly awesome, it just fits my standards. Shore Up is a new healing move that is exclusively Palossand's. It's especially effective on Sand teams...maybe doubles would make great use of Palossand, but I have no experience in it. I digress. Shore Up will keep Palossand healthy while it's in the field, and physical water types such as non-belly drum Azumarill may have trouble taking it out as it has Water Compaction, giving a sharp raise in Defense every time you get hit with Water. Palossand's viable defense will let you live one hit in the first place, and this is followed by a Shore Up if you've predicted correctly. Your opponents will have a real tough time getting through this with a Physical Attacker. So this is where Amnesia comes into play. Predict a switch to a special attacker, and you've got yet another advantage on them already. I was very surprised to find that the pile of sand could learn Giga Drain, which will help when you're up against a water type, and it'll help your healing in general. You all know why Earth Power is here.

So, Palossand isn't a totally great Poke, but if he gets placed somewhat lower in the tiers, this might not be so bad. Maybe we won't have to go against Azumarill after all!

If only Sand Compact made it immune to Water moves.
But then nobody would hit it with Water at all. I mean that could pose a threat to banded stuff like Azumarill I guess. and it'd be easier to wall Special attackers, but really It wouldn't be such a defensive monster because nobody would keep giving it more.

Well they wouldn't purposely attack it with a Water Move, but that'd make it an amazing swap-in. But no, that would mean this Pokemon would actually have some redeeming qualities...

Palossand @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Water Compaction
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power STAB
- Shadow Ball STAB
- Shore Up For healing yourself
- Amnesia To increase special bulk if you have a free turn
This set has worked for me really well. He can take a lot of punishment and dish it out too. I mostly used him on battle spot (doubles or singles) and he pulled his weight almost every match.

These are the builds I go for on my Palossands, yes I have two.


Palossand @ Leftovers / Big Root
Role : Tanky Sweeper
Ability : Water Compaction
Nature : Calm (+SPDef / -Atk)
- Palossand needs SPDef more than he needs Def. It's sad that a strong Hydro Pump will wash away our Palossand if we don't invest any SPDef so I think this is the way to go. Furthermore, Def can be backed up by Water Compaction.
EV Spread : 252 HP / 252 SPAtk / 4 SPDef
Moveset :
1. Stockpile
- An egg move. As we all know, increases Def and SPDef up to a maximum of 3. If you're up against a special attacker, it's best that you go for Stockpile first, then heal up on the second turn.
2. Giga Drain / Shore Up
- Basically to heal yourself with. Giga Drain covers Water weakness, and is specially useful when a Big Root is equipped.
3. Sludge Bomb / Shadow Ball
- Covers Grass weakness, and may cause poisoning. Covers Ghost weakness and may lower opponent's SPDef respectively.
4. Earth Power
- STAB.


Palossand @ Leftovers
Role : Physical Wall / Dedicated Tank
Ability : Water Compaction
Nature : Bold (+Def / -Atk)
- Again, this Palossand is a physical wall. He does not appreciate Special Attacks, especially those which he is weak to. E.g.: Giga Drain, Solar Beam, Energy Ball, Hydro Pump, Shadow Ball, etc.
EV Spread : 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SPDef
Moveset :
1. Stockpile
- Same explanation as the first.
2. Shore Up
-Something to heal yourself with.
3. Toxic
4. Infestation
- Infestation is better than Sand Tomb, because the latter does not work against flying types. Infestation, on the one hand, may be used against all types.

- Protect So you can get more stall on toxic
- Shore Up For healing duh
- Infestation So more stall damage and they also cannot switch out
- Toxic The ultimate stall status

It doesn't get Sand Tomb?
It does. But Infestation has better accuracy and can affect Flying-types, which I assume is why it was chosen over Sand Tomb.

RANDOM MOVESET I USE SOMETIMES
Palossand
IV: 31 0 31 31 31 31
EV: 252 HP 252 SP.ATK 4 DEF
NATURE: CALM (+ SP.DEF, - ATK)
ABILITY: WATER COMPACTION
ITEM: LEFTOVERS
MOVES:
EARTH POWER: STAB
SHADOW BALL: STAB
ENERGY BALL: COVERAGE
SHORE UP: HEALING

You can probably guess what you do with this set! Use whatever attack is most useful to you, and heal every now and then! If you used this in doubles, I guess you could bring a Tyrantrum or Hippowdon to set up sandstorm! That would help with Shore Up and it would raise your already decent Sp.Def!

I'm relatively new to competitive! So, what do you think of my moveset?

This thing seems to offer a lot for a bulky Pokemon.

+SpAtk - Atk, or +SpDef - Atk / Compact Sand / 252 HP, (252 SpAtk or 126 SpAtk and 126 SpDef)
1. Stock Pile - Get your defenses up
2. Shore Up - Steady way of retaining health
3. Toxic - Slowly kill your opponent
4. Shadow Ball/Earth Power - Shadow Ball and Earth Power offer good damage with stab.

Personally, I would choose scorching sand to bolster def. Giga drain+ healing or stall with toxic. Evasion boost with sand veil and greater healing with shore up.

- Sandstorm
- Shore Up
- Scorching Sands
- Ancient Power
Explanation: This Palossand sets up Sandstorm to activate Sand Veil. Along with Brightpowder, it can make it a little hard to hit. Shore Up gets good recovery during Sandstorm. Scorching Sands is STAB and has a chance to burn foes. Ancientpower is to fit Flying Types.

Palosand was the worlds most disgusting tank, EVER

Palossand @ Sitrus Berry Ability: Water Compaction EVs: 252 HP /
60 Def / 196 SpD Calm Nature
- Curse
- Stockpile
- Shore Up
- Sand Tomb

How to use this set:
First, use Sand tomb and trap opponent, after using it, use curse (Sirtrus berry was for it!) and which makes opponent trapped and also takes curse damage each turn. Luckily, Palossand’s good bulk makes it became such a nice tank. Stockpile was for making Palossand even bulkier and Shore up was for good recovery.
Teammates guide:
-Mandibuzz will be a successful teammate, it could taunt opponent for using taunt in Palossand, and also could help Palossand from recciving Nasty Plot Wallbreaker such as Hydreigon.
-Chansey and other successful users could help Palossand from getting statued
-If you was playing UU, you may try Grimmsnarl for setting dual screens and taunt

Check and Counters:
-Flying type with taunt Such as Mandibuzz will force Palosand to use Struggle seems it will Taunt it and immune to Palossand’s Sand Tomb
-Taunt users will get rid of it, so you need a Pokemon that knows taunt for it
