Is Lycanroc version exclusive?

I was playing Pokemon Sun when you're supposed to go past the Vast Poni Canyon. I stumbled into a Midnight Lycanroc, which was strange because I thought it was version exclusive. is it?

The Lycanroc forms aren't exclusive, it's just that if you catch a Rockruff, it will only evolve into Midday Form in Sun, and only Midnight Form in Moon.

Both forms can be found and caught in the wild though, at Vast Poni Canyon. Midday Form appears with 20% chance at day and Midnight appears with 20% chance at night. It's only the determination of what form your Rockruff evolves into that is exclusive.

It isn't version exclusive, it's just the only way to get a Lycancroc normally is to level it and this causes the evolution based on the game. For reference, Midnight-Lyancroc has a 20% chance of appearing in the Vast Poni Canyon at night, while in the daylight Midday-Lycancroc has the same odds

Lycanroc is available in both games, however its form is version-exclusive. Midday form is exclusive in Sun(level Rockruff to 25 during the day) and Midnight Form is exclusive to Moon(Level Rockruff to 25 during the night).
