How come that butterfree can learn psychic attack?

That can be said about every Pokémon that has a move that isn't their type. It likely gets Psychic for coverage, as the devs assume the game would be harder if you couldn't use moves that aren't your type, and allows STAB to be a thing. There are a lot of Pokémon that get Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam for no reason. :P

Although, I could be missing something. :P

For diverity in its movepool, imagine if Pokemon could’t learn attacks that aren’t thier type. Alot of Pokemon that have good movepools would have alot of it removed, bug in gen 1 would only have 1 move (im pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong) and it would suck.
