Position: Tank

Appletun @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Ripen
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Recycle
- Protect / Endure / Substitute / Safeguard
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed / Apple Acid

  • Recycle (uses Ripen and berries to the fullest)
  • Protect / Endure / Substitute / Safeguard (to stall)
  • Giga Drain (to heal, attack and STAB)
  • Leech Seed / Apple Acid (To heal and attack while using Protect and Recycle to lower SpD, because his better attack stat is the special side)

I found this one on Youtube. Credit to PokeMEN7.

Appletun @ Starf Berry
Ability: Ripen
EVs: 244 HP / 84 Def / 180 SpD
Bold Nature
- Substitute
- Recover
- Recycle
- Apple Acid

This is pretty fun to use, as the special defence drop from Apple Acid helps no matter what stat boosts you get from the Starf Berry. If you get a Substitute off, it could even become a sweeper (if you get a special attack boosts from the Starf Berry). This Pokémon is certainly underrated, with this set there is a 4/5 chance of getting a +4 stat boost in a useful stat.

Aren't recover and substitute a bit redundant? He should have STAB dragon pulse

Gimmicky, but that's the point of this set.

Appletun @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Ripen
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Recycle / Substitute
- Apple Acid / Giga Drain
- Dragon Pulse / Draco Meteor

Petaya Berry raises Special Attack by two stages when Appletun goes to 25% HP, due to Ripen. This can make it surprisingly potent on the field. Recover + Recycle allows you to try again, or you can use Substitute for a more reliable activation of the Berry. Use Apple Acid or Giga Drain for STAB, depending on whether you want a higher-powered option that softens up the opponent, or another healing option. Dragon Pulse and Draco Meteor are your choices for Dragon STAB, and both are very viable due to the Petaya Berry (e.g. you can use Draco Meteor more than once before it's useless, which is nice).

Probably nothing more than a gimmick, but it still seems fun to use, and could screw with an opponent.

Appletun @ Leftovers / Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def or SpD
Adamant / Careful / Impish / Brave
- Seed Bomb
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball (for Brave Nature variants) / Superpower / Body Slam

Seed Bomb is grass STAB, Outrage is Dragon Stab, Earthquake kills Poison types and the steel types that resist its dual STABS. Superpower also kills Steels while denting Ice types. Gyro Ball should be used on Brave Nature variants with 0 Speed IVs (and possibly Trick Room) and it hurts Ice types as well as covering Fairies. Body Slam is just neutral coverage lol.

Appletun @ Leftovers / HP restoring pinch Berry
Ability: Thick Fat / Ripen
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Outrage
- Body Press
- Curse / Iron Defense

Grass and Dragon stab, yady yady yada. Body Press because Impish Nature and several Curses/Iron Defense makes it pretty strong and besides, it trashes Steel and Ice types. You get the point, body press sweeper.

Appletun @ Leftovers / HP restoring pinch berry / Petaya Berry
Ability: Thick Fat / Ripen
EVs: 252 HP / 78 Def / 100 SpA / 78 SpD
Modest / Calm / Bold Nature
- Apple Acid
- Dragon Pulse
- Hyper Beam / Leech Seed
- Substitute

Oh, the irony. Good physical movepool, but its specially oriented. Ok, no problem. It must have a great special movepool too, right? Uh no. You know things are bad when you're forced to resort to Hyper Beam. Apple Acid is strong, gets stronger every turn. Dragon Pulse is Dragon STAB, Draco Meteor sucks on this set since Petaya gets reset and Substitute gets wasted when you switch out. Substitute allows you to block damage and activate the berry if you're using Ripen. I realised Hyper Beam has okay synergy with Sub, and Leech Seed +Leftovers+Substitute is mildly infuriating

Special appletun is disappointing lol.

Yeah, hope you enjoyed I guess

I have made at least 20 people rage quit cuz of this on showdown, Appletun is definitely underrated

Appletun @ Yache Berry / Aguav Berry
Ability: Ripen / Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 SpD
Bold Nature
- Apple Acid
- Recover / Protect
- Recycle
- Leech Seed

Leech Seed is for obvious reasons. Apple Acid is a great signature move and hits all types no matter what, so nothing will completely stop it. Yache Berry halves the damage from ice types, and ripen or thick fat will aid that, so ice moves, its couble weakness, is covered. Recover or protect, your choice. Recycle is also obvious.

Role: Bulky Wall

Appletun @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Ripen
Evs: 252 Hp, 126 Def, 130 SpD
Bold Nature

  • Leech Seed
  • Recycle
  • Apple Acid
  • Dragon Pulse

Leech Seed is to regain health and try to force a swap, Recycle is to get your Sitrus Berry back to live infinitely. Apple Acid is STAB and lowers SpD of the target, Dragon Pulse is STAB with good BP.

Gen 9 NU Defensive Phaser

Appletun @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy / Careful Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Recover
- Apple Acid / Body Press
- Leech Seed / Curse

This is a specially defensive phaser set Appletun uses in Gen 9 NU. Appletun gets Dragon Tail in Gen 9, which allows Appletun to force Pokemon off the field, allowing Appletun to stop setup sweepers from setting up, making it not as passive. Dragon Tail is useful if you use Appletun on a Spikes stack team. Apple Acid is a nice stallbreaking move due to it lowering the special defense stat of opposing Pokemon. Leech Seed is used to slowly chip away at the opposing Pokemon's HP while slowly recovering some HP. Recover is used to give Appletun reliable recovery. Body Press and Curse can be used instead of Apple Acid and Leech Seed to allow Appletun to serve as a wincon. Thick Fat is used as the Ability to tank Fire- and Ice-type moves better. Tera Steel is used to prevent Appletun from being poisoned as well as giving Appletun a nice defensive typing. Sassy Nature is used if you use Apple Acid + Leech Seed, while Careful Nature is used if you use Curse + Body Press.

Gen 9 NU Choice Specs

Appletun @ Choice Specs
Ability: Thick Fat
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Apple Acid
- Dragon Pulse
- Giga Drain

Ah yes, Appletun. The Apple Nectar Pokemon who has more Special Attack than its Attack stat, but realistically only having Grass/Dragon coverage outside of using Tera Blast. However, with Gen 9 NU currently being a tier where Pokemon need to use Tera to have a good Steel- or Fairy-type, Grass/Dragon coverage is all Appletun needs for a Choice Specs set. Draco Meteor is an incredibly strong Dragon STAB, being capable of 2HKOing Assault Vest Eelektross and Specially Defensive Muk after taking Stealth Rock damage. Draco Meteor is also nice for chipping Umbreon's HP. Apple Acid being able to lower the Special Defense of opposing Pokemon is useful against Pokemon such as Chansey who have good special bulk. Dragon Pulse is used for a more accurate and consistent Dragon STAB that is useful late-game. Giga Drain is used for a Grass STAB that allows Appletun to recover HP. Modest Nature with 252 Special Attack EVs and Choice Specs allow Appletun to hit as hard as possible. Tera Steel is used to give Appletun a nice defensive typing and is useful against opposing Choice Specs Appletun.

And for those who want to ask why I have speed on Appletun: using Speed EVs allow Appletun to outspeed slow defensive Pokemon such as Muk, Lurantis, Eelektross, an Chansey. Yes, Appletun is already slow as is, so it'd be quite a shame if it couldn't outspeed the aforementioned defensive Pokemon.
