Some kid traded me his shiny Melmetal from LGPE to SwSh but he replaced toxic with Acid Armor and superpower with Body Press. Would the move toxic have made a major difference?

Relatively speaking, Melmetal is a good Toxic user. But you could say the same for most of the Pokemon in Ubers.
But like, does Melmetal work better with or without Toxic? I know the move is worth a lot on Melmetal because he can’t re learn it but is it one that would be very good in Competitive?
I dunno about how good it is in competitive, but Melmetal's pretty slow at 34 Speed. Minimum Speed is 65, max Speed is 183, without Choice Scarf or stat boosts. It seems kinda weird to have Toxic on a slow Pokemon, although that might just be me.

What do you want to do with this Melmetal? Do you want to battle other people, in-game trainers, or something else?
This is for competitive, right? What format?
Doubles preferable. As I’m already using it with a Trock Room Skill Swap Jirachi.

Double battles are generally shorter, so status moves like toxic, acid armor, and skill swap are less useful. Melmetal wants strong attacks like double iron bash, thunder punch, high horsepower, or body press. Its only good status move is protect.
