Why can't I touch the statue in Mr. Backlot's office?

I'm playing through Platinum and there's a Pokemon statue in Mr. Backlot's office by a police officer that stops you from touching the statue. Is there some kind of reason why?

Not really. It's just there as an Easter egg, or for atmosphere, or whatever you'd like to call it; there's no particular reason given as to why you can't touch it. If you really wanna touch it though, the guard is off duty from 2 to 6 AM, so you're able to then if you so desire.
