Yes, you can play Sword/Shield without Nintendo Switch Online. The only features that are locked out are, well, online features. Y-Comm Online functions, Online Raids, and Online Battles.

Hope this helped!

You cannot trade with people, battle with people, find Camps, trade with League Cards, or see people in the Wild Area without Nintendo Switch Online. However, both games can still be played without a subscription. But without it, there is no trading or battling with people. You also can't get Mystery Gifts from the Internet.

Hope I helped!

You're welcome. Happy to help.
You can get the mystery gifts that are available right now from Nintendo. (HA Pokémon and Items) I should know I don't have an online membership
