Is there a difference between beating the Elite 4 and entering the Hall of Fame?

I’ve noticed that both on the Database and Bulbapedia, it sometimes lists a requirement as “after beating the Elite 4” and other times it will be “after entering the Hall of Fame”. Is this simply an inconsistency, or is there actually a difference?

Maybe it’s because to get into the Hall Of Fame you hafta beat the Champion?

Yes, I think "after beating the champion" is usually more correct than "after beating the Elite Four". Most of the things that happen "after beating the Elite Four" won't happen if you lose to the champion.

They often mean the same thing, though you entering the Hall of Fame for the first time is what it often refers to. All it really means is to beat the Champion of the region for the first time.
