I have Pokémon Sword, and I wanna get a good nature for my beldum. I tried to breed it with a ditto, and the lady at the daycare said they prefer to play with other Pokémon. Am I garunteed to get it or do I need to get a different beldum?

Are you sure she said that? Can you make sure she has your Ditto and Beldum and then talk to her again?
If possible could you also show a screenshot showing the message and showing that it is indeed beldum and ditto?

There is a guarantee for getting an egg when the Pokémon are compatible. However breeding will only happen when the day care lady describes their relationship as “The two seem to get along”

Here, your Beldum and Ditto can't breed Since the day-care lady describes their relationship as "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon more than with each other.".

The day-care lady will say like this when the Pokémon are compatible but chances of finding an egg is a bit lower. Especially when they're from the same game. Briefly, you need to wait for some more for them getting along. I recommend you to catch another Beldum and try breed it with Ditto again or wait until they get along.

Thank you!

Two Pokemon being compatible for breeding has nothing to do with luck. Pokemon have to be of opposite genders and share an egg group in order to breed. Ditto is compatible with any Pokemon not in the Undiscovered egg group.
"There is no guarantee for getting an egg even though the Pokémon are compatible." This implies that luck is involved. If Pokemon are of opposite genders and share an egg group or are compatible in any other way, then you will eventually get an egg, unless something I'm unaware of has changed.

it's so good i think i might cry
The question description says they prefer to play with other Pokemon, which means they aren't compatible.
In that case, can you explain why they can't breed? Beldum is in the mineral egg group, so it should be compatible with Ditto.
Breeding can only be done when the daycare lady say they seems to get along.

This is why they can't breed:
The day-care lady will say like this when the Pokémon are compatible but chances of finding an egg is a bit lower. Especially when they're from the same game.
Why did the day care lady not say they seem to get along even though their egg groups should be compatible?
That's not only the reason for saying so.I think this user have to wait until they get along. I hope the user can breed those two Pokémon soon..

Yes, Beldum can breed with Ditto. Even though Beldum is a genderless Pokémon, and Genderless Pokémon usually can't breed (some can, only with ditto).

Sniped it!!!
Can you explain why the day-care lady says they prefer to play with other Pokemon? She's supposed to say this only when they can't breed.
