PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I was trying a reflect type team with Galarian Stunfisk and experienced something odd. I had previously set grassy terrain with another Pokemon and then sent out Galarian Stunfisk. Obviously the ability mimicry kicked in and I became a grass type, then I had used reflect type and became fire flying. After grassy terrain ended Mimicry kicked in again except it took away my reflect type changes and made me ground steel again. This seems like a really strange game mechanic to me as I had already lost my mimicry typing (grass) before the end of the terrain. Should this have happened?

When terrain ends, the Pokémon reverts back to its original typing, according to Bulbapedia and this replay. This replay shows it changing back to Steel-Ground after being Fire-Flying. https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8pu-1349325131
