In most contests, you battle at Level 50, I am just wondering how this affects EV training.

If you have 3 EVs, you get 0 points at L100 (it doesn't round up)
If you have 4 EVs, you get 1 point at L100 and none at Level 50.

So if you are playing at L50, should you train at 248/248/8 instead of 252/252/4 to get the full benefit?

252 / 4 = 63 points at L100 = 31.5 -> 31 points at L50 so only 248 necessary
508 - 248 - 248 = 12 points = 3 points at L100 = 1.5 -> 1 point at L50 so only 8 necessary

Can someone please confirm/deny, please?

actually, at level 50 you do get a point for the first 4 EVs, but after that it takes 8 for each increase

you can check this by sliding around the funny wiggle bars on showdown

just a weird quirk but yeah 252/252/4 is correct :)
Thanks...so with that strange 4 EVs = 1 point, then a 244/244/4/4/4/4 would max your stats at 2 higher than 252/252/4, except you'd lose a point for your two highest ones.  Thanks again.
yeah in theory, you'd get the most "value" or stat points out of that spread with a neutral nature

but, a) you've got 4 unused EVs with that spread, and b) putting EVs into all 6 stats is pointless unless your pokemon is a mixed attacker

generally you dont need to mess around with 252/252/4 unless you're calcing for something specific (:

When a level 50 Pokemon has 248 EVs in a stat, giving it 4 more EVs will still raise the stat. This is true for all 6 stats, including HP.
