Hippowdon is an extremely potent mixed wall in UU thanks to its amazing bulk, solid typing, and reliable recovery. Its naturally high Defense allows it to invest in Special Defense to check Salamence and Thundurus-T while still answering physical attackers like Excadrill, Zygarde-10%, and Cobalion. Its bulk even lets it trade with threats that hit it super effectively like Tangrowth and Rotom-W and cripple them with Toxic. Hippowdon is a great Stealth Rock setter due to matching up well against common entry hazard removers like Salamence, Mandibuzz, Excadrill, and Tentacruel and easily setting Stealth Rock against Pokemon it walls like Excadrill, Cobalion, and Nihilego without Grass Knot. Utility options, like Toxic to cripple Tangrowth and Rotom-W and Whirlwind to keep setup sweepers like Scizor from setting up on it, limit Hippowdon's passivity.

Tangrowth's stellar ability in Regenerator, massive defense stat, good defensive typing, and solid offensive presence makes Tangrowth one of the best walls in the tier. Tangrowth typically operates with an Assault Vest set, becoming a mixed wall that can check threats like Primarina and Thundurus-T on the special end and Excadrill and Zygarde-10% on the physical end. Meanwhile, full investment in physical defense lets it check Zygarde-10%, Zarude, and Conkeldurr more reliably. Access to coverage moves like Knock Off, Focus Blast, and Sludge Bomb let Tangrowth severely cripple defensive Pokemon such as Chansey, Cobalion, and Salamence, with physically defensive sets even utilizing Sleep Powder to shut down Scizor.

Amoonguss is a potent defensive wall due to its good defensive typing, which enables it to check dangerous foes such as Azumarill, Primarina, and Zarude, combined with its access to Regenerator. Access to Spore allows Amoonguss to shut down an opposing foe completely, making it harder to play around and offensively check due to pressuring opponents to choose sleep fodder. Its Poison typing additionally gives it an edge over other common Grass-types, as it is able to threaten Tangrowth and Zarude with Sludge Bomb, which also prevents them from switching in to absorb Spore.

Celesteela's typing and defensive stats are both fantastic in UU, allowing it to check a considerable portion of UU's top threats, including Salamence, Scizor, Diggersby, Hippowdon, Nihilego, and Excadrill. Celesteela can also operate with an Autotomize set, tapping into its strong special coverage and the sweeping potential Beast Boost lends it to clean through many unprepared teams.

The best special wall in UU is eviolite chansey, it is a good switch in if the opponent, such as Thundurus-T, common special sweeper in the tier

It also has access to moves such as Soft-Boiled, Heal Bell etc. Skarmory is the Pokémon with the highest defence in UU, and it has access to hazard moves in Stealth Rock and Spikes, and other moves like Body Press to use its base 140 defence to deal huge damage. It also has Whirlwind, which phazes out special attackers after Sturdy activates.
