Does jumping and swimming count as steps in S/V?

As far as my research goes, there hasn't been much, if any, research into how steps work in most newer games.

I searched a long time and couldn't find anything about stepping mechanics for S/V

I found that swimming and gliding count as steps. I don’t know how much and I still don’t know about jumping.

It could be distance although I would imagine jumping will not count

I'm pretty sure that swimming counts, but both aerial travel methods don't count. This is only from hundreds of eggs hatched for shinies, but sprinting is the quickest regardless.
