When I see flamigo in Pokemon it looks like it could be a pure flying type Pokemon. But according to Pokemon its part Fighting. Why is that the case?? I don't see that it makes sense for it to be a part fighting type.

Flamigo's classification and Fighting-type may be a reference to the elaborate, synchronized courtship dances performed by flamingos, which can encompass the entirety of a flock.

There’s no major indication of why it could be in the Pokédex entries or name origin. If not the above, it may just simply be GameFreak Logic.

Real answer, Game Freak. Interesting answer, it has to do with the behavior of the Pokémon.

Thanks to a behavior of theirs known as “synchronizing,” an entire flock of these Pokémon can attack simultaneously in perfect harmony.

-Violet Pokédex entry.

Flamigos seem to be so skilled at fighting that an entire flock can attack together with perfect harmony. The Flamigo is a Fighting type due to its skillful fighting behavior. Hope this helped!
