Can an ally hit through your protect?

Question

so I really like competitive play and I found this weird thing going on with protect!

in a scarlet video I saw a krookodile uses protect and meowscarada uses flower trick at it and it hits through its ally's protection.

I tried a similar thing on showdown except with spicy extract and it says "koraidon protected itself"

is showdown wrong or scarlet wrong?
