In Pokemon Pearl in the Great Marsh is it possible to change the date on the ds to guarantee a Toxicroak spawn? Not Croagunk, Toxicroak.

I’m pretty sure date skipping will lock all time based events for 24 hours. In other words, it’ll block you from getting anything
Does it do that in pearl tho? Or in every single game?
Not in every single game, but in pearl, yes
oh ok *sigh* guess I can’t really get toxicroak
Can't you just save before the date rolls over to the next day, check for toxicroak, then reset if it's not there?

Bulbapedia says the time lock exists only in gen 6 onward. I've also messed with the clock in Platinum before and I don't think it locked anything.
There’s definitely time locks in Gen 4.

From experience, I don't recall any time locks for any of the daily encounters in DP (Swarms, Great Marsh, and Trophy Garden), though I wouldn't know for sure.
The page doesn't say the Sinnoh Safari Zone is affected. It would explain why honey trees act weird, though.
Based on https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Great_Marsh#Changing_Pok%C3%A9mon it sounds like the game just picks random Pokemon from a list each day, leaving no way to force a certain Pokemon to be chosen. What's interesting is that the Great Marsh is compatible with mixing records, which means there's something extra going on with how it chooses the Pokemon. Not sure if it's been researched before. That or RNG manip could offer some control.

The Great Marsh isn't mentioned in either of these links. I don't know if there's a way to force a specific Pokemon to appear, but just changing your date shouldn't lock you out of cycling between the special spawns.
Fizz yes but computers aren’t actually random as random doesn’t exist (I swear to god if someone mentions quantum) so a computer will have to pick a number based on the time for example. Someone found if you change your switch clock to 2015 or something and wait 12 secs you can garentee huisuin pokeballs in the gambling thing in the indigo disk
It is possible to abuse the gen 4 RNG, but it might require starting the game and loading the save file on a specific second or specific fraction of a second. It's probably easier to just start the game on a new day and soft reset until you get a Toxicroak.

NO

And if you change your system time, the game locks you out of time-based events for 24 real-time hours.

1. The question is asking for Diamond and Pearl, not BDSP.
2. Please be sure to indicate when you're quoting text directly from a source (e.g. quotation marks or blockquotes).
