Can I out speed a whimsicott with taunt?

Question

I'm trying to stop other teams from setting up tailwind with whimsicott and farig from setting up trick room with taunt... Or anything else that does the same for more than one turn.
But can I even do that?

I know this question has 3 answers already but they all miss out on good Pokemon to actually stop Whimsicott / Farigiraf from setting speed control up and on actual strategy to deal with Whimsicott / Farigiraf.
Firstly if the opponent leads Farigiraf+whimsicott there isn’t much you can do to stop them from setting tailwind. Tinkaton can fake out Whimsicott despite Farigiraf armor tail and you can then remove/ taunt the Whimsicott without it setting tailwind but thats very situational and most people don't use Whimsicott plus Farigiraf anyway.

Anyway let’s get to countering them both separately. Firstly the best way to stop trick room from being set up is by taunting Farigiraf because Farigiraf is really bulk and there aren’t many things that can actually one shot it and if they can one shot it they will probably get faked out. Now keep in mind that Farigiraf almost always leads with a fake out user so you have to make sure they don’t fake out your taunt user. To do this Just lead with a Pokemon that threatens a lot of damage on Farigiraf. A great lead example would be Inciniroar plus Kingambit. The opponent will almost always fake out Kingambit leaving Incineroar free to taunt Farigiraf. The other option is to reverse trick room with a pokemom like Sinistcha.

Whimsicott cant be out sped most of the time thanks to its ability but there are still a few ways to out speed it. Firstly fake out has a higher priority so you can fake out Whimsicott to break its focus sash and stop it setting up tailwind (assuming you also attack it with your other Pokemon). Another option is Talonflame whose ability allows it to out speed and kill whimsicott. Talonflame also gets taunt so it can counter Farigiraf as well.

Whimsicott and Farigiraf are possible, but Whimsicott with Farigiraf support is not. Whimsicott is possible. As the other answers say, you simply get another prankster taunter that's faster. However, there is no faster prankster taunter, but Whimsicott can speed tie it. You either need to hope you win the speed tie, or you have to scarf your Whimsicott, which is obviously not a great item to have on a support mon. A better idea is to just tailwind yourself. Farigiraf is even easier. You simply have to taunt it, as trick room as -6 priority. Roar also works, but taunt is better. If it has taunt support, get a Farigiraf yourself if the support is prankster, and use either Aerodactyl, the fastest non-mega, or Mega Alakazam, the fastest mon. Both can learn taunt. Farigiraf and Whimsicott together though is not possible, as you cannot turn off Farigirafs ability in time for Whimsicott to set tailwind.

Just want to say you’re flat out wrong about it being impossible to stop Farigiraf plus whimsicott. Tinkaton can fake out Whimsicott despite armor tail thanks to mold breaker. Also using tailwind in front of a whimsicott is a bad idea because you will get encored the following turn unless the opponent predicts you switching or something.

Prankster works by giving +1 priority to status moves and moves go in speed order inside it's priority bracket. If your Pokemon also has prankster to give +1 priority to taunt and outspeed whimsicott, you can do so. You can also stop whimsicott with other plus priority moves or use trickroom to make their tailwind affect them negatively

I am going to assume that Whimsicott has Prankster and is going to set up Tailwind.

If you plan on stopping Whimsicott with Taunt, you will need another Pokemon with Prankster that has a higher speed than Whimsicott.
Because Prankster raises priority of status, speed itself means nothing. That’s why you need the Prankster to match the +1 priority and outspeed so you win the speedtie, land the taunt and ruin the setup.
