Politoed
Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wake-up Slap / Focus Punch / Frustration / Return
- Hypnosis
- Waterfall
- Belly Drum

My little sweeping beast :] if you've battled any of my rain teams, ( Heck, most all of my teams have a Politoed lead like this ) then you've met this guy.

Hypnosis for the Belly Drum get up, Belly Drum for beastly attack, Waterfall for STAB Sweeping, Wake up Slap, Focus Punch, Frustration , Return for neutral coverage sweeping or super effective coverage sweeping.

Sexy (Politoed) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Damp
EVs: 128 Atk / 128 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Attract
- Defense Curl
- Ice Ball
- Earthquake / Waterfall

My little seductive tramp xD

Poli here uses her attractive self to immobilize her opponents, then she curls up, and pounds e'm like.. well yeah.

Attract makes your opponent have trouble hitting you, or just plain switch. Defense curl raises your defense slightly, but is mainly for use with Ice ball, for coverage sweeping. Earthquake for more coverage, although Waterfall is also usefull.

Klub Frog (Politoed) (M) @ Life Orb

Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Hypnosis
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam

Drizzle is for the rain lead aspect, this just takes a bit of a cool twist for Poli.
You're maxing a little bit over 300 Special attack, then you're pairing that with Life orb.
Rain + STAB + 120 Base power is making Hydro Pump the bomb.
Hypnosis will let you not take Life orb damage, due to it not being an attack
Focus Blast is coverage, and I mean, we've said screw it to high accuracy anyway.
And Ice Beam keeps annoying crap like Dragonite at bay, while showing grass types like Venusaur who's boss in the process :D ( Klub is Bulk backwards if you didn't notice )

I like the pic!
You have some pretty low accuracy moves...
Hypnosis should make up for the low accuracy moves, after getting a hypnosis up, then he has a few free turns to fire off hydro pump and/or focus blast

Sun Toed (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 56 HP / 200 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Focus Blast
- Psychic
- Ice Beam

For use in the "Sun" weather

HP Fire is like STAB in the sun for him, then standard Politoed coverage.
I use mine for Water Absorb soaking up water attacks for my poor fire types.

You and Politoed.
:]
WOW!
suntoed!
I like it... And Riles is using it, meaning it must be good.
not a single stab water move? even in the sun politoed needs a stab water type move

The epic Physical Tank!

Politoed (M) @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
Ability: Damp
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Brave Nature
- Ice Punch
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Payback

Leftovers to give recovery, while Lum Berry clears annoying status. Evs are standard Physical Tank. Nature is good for a Tank. Ice Punch kills Grass types. Waterfall for STAB. Earthquake for coverage against Electric types, while also killing about everything else. Finally, Payback is an unexpected twist. When the foe sees that this guy is Physical, they’ll switch to something like Slowking that Politoed can’t do crap to. But Payback kills it, and with the lowered Speed, it hits the maximum pretty well.

Atlast a set that doesnt involve drizzle
Damp is good to switch in against stuff like Exploding Electrode (just to annoy the foe XD) and Forretress.
you should have bounce or hypnosis instead of payback

Bulk Frog (Politoed) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Atk / 60 Def
Adamant Nature
- Encore
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Hypnosis

Another Drizzle variant.

Encore can annoy someone who's setting up Stealth Rocks, or that's setting up. Earthquake and Waterfall provide coverage, Ev's make for a bulky toed. Hypnosis puts opponents to sleep.

Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 116 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Def / 12 SpD
Impish Nature
- Mind Reader
- Dynamic Punch
- Waterfall
- Earthquake

I really like Politoed, Okay?

Read your opponents mind ( Frogs are just awesome like that ) And then hit for a Dynamic punch, which will bring confusion ( Did that freaking frog just punch me!!? ) Now you can hit for an STAB Waterfall ( I'm not even sure how that should be possible ) And then Cause Earthquakes by hopping up and down, covering some annoying types.

Politoed (M) @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice / Hidden Power [Ground] / Mud Bomb
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast

Choice Scarf sweeper Toed, A nice classic.

Hyper Voice gives epic Neutral coverage with Water, although HP Ground and Mud Bomb covers Electric, and Mud Bomb offers accuracy hax.

I prefer Hydro Pump over surf any day, it doesn't miss that often and is awesome STAB for Pokemon like this who's Sp Atk is only peeking slightly over 300.

Ice beam gives Grass coverage, And mostly Dragon coverage.
And Focus Blast covers other various things, such as dark. And is high powered.

Any day? Highly doubtful. It always depends on what you are using him for. My Politoad knows Surf and I have him on a Rain team with Toxicroak. Surf covers damage on both enemies while healing Toxicroak at the same time. I can use Hydro Pump, miss, or not and hit 1 target OR use Surf, hit for sure, and heal a teammate. Any day is beginning to not look like any day.

Poliwhirl (M) @ Eviolite

Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 120 Atk / 132 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Hypnosis
- Waterfall
- Body Slam

Fun in the rain, that's where I use him!

His speed will top 400 with swift swim, giving no Ev's so people won't hate you too much. Hypnosis puts your opponent to sleep, nighty night! Then you can Drum up and sweep with heavy neutral coverage from Body Slam and Waterfall, Waterfall has a flinch rate ( 10% ) and Body Slam has a paralyze rate, so even if you somehow don't OHKO, you have a decent chance of something happening that your opponent can't move. His defenses land at 199, so Eviolite boost makes them about 300, so he can take some good hits.

This this should be in the poliwhirl move set question, but there isnt one, as its not a final evolution. If I'm missing something here please correct me.
Noby, you are correct; because there isn't a Poliwhirl moveset page, he could answer this under Politoad or Poliwrath. Josh, good answer, but why not take the same moveset and evolve him into Poliwrath? Jw.

Globox -- Politoed --

Politoed @ Mystic Water / Leftovers / Lum Berry
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Belly Drum
- Rest
- Waterfall
- Sleep Talk

Belly Drum - The first move he'll normally be using, preferably on a switch or something setting up hazards on me. The latter happens quite often.

Rest - After drumming, he needs to rest up and recover the HP lost. He should have enough bulk to take an attack from a lead.

Waterfall - His single attacking move, STAB. Gives decent coverage, gets rain boosted. Get's STAB. Can use with the next move..

Sleep talk - Used to utilize Waterfall while he's sleeping from using Rest. Even when using the Lum Berry, he'll probably get to go back to sleep later on to rest up again.

Slightly gimmicky, but very effective.

Switch Lum for Chesto in case you get burned, paralyzed, or poisoned.

PolitoedChoice Band! Politoed

Politoed @ Choice Band
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 58 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Def / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Brick Break
- Earthquake
- Bounce

I pretty much stared at Politoed until I came up with a set that no-one had posted yet and was still competitively usable XD. The way I have distributed EVs Politoed will obviously outspeed Hippowdon and Tyranitar but will still be slower than Ninetales so as to get the weather. Waterfall is STAB, and can easily take care of Ninetales in the Rain (Though in the sun get Poltoed out of there he does not like Solar-beam) Hippowdon can be 2KOed. Brick-break can OHKO Tyranitar providing he does not have full investment in HP and Defense(That would be a rather strange spread XD). Earthquake is coverage. For your last move you have Bounce which not only covers your Grass weakness and the very common Fighting types but has a 30% paralyze chance :D.

Role: Specs Tank

Politoed (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 196 Def / 252 SpA / 60 SpD
Bold Nature
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Ground] / Hidden Power [Fighting] / Focus Blast

Well, this is pretty simple.

His defenses are pretty jacked up thanks to hit Ev's and nature, on top of their regular high bases.
Now he has a 252 Ev'd Specs boosted Special attack, with Hydro Pump ( I honestly prefer this to surf over time, atleast on PO ) Ice beam for coverage, HP Ground for nice coverage, And Psychic for even more coverage!

2 CUTE (Politoed) @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Encore/Protect

This is a really good moveset if you to make Politoed a staller and semi-wall. There are a lot of pros and some cons for this moveset.

Pros:
Has two good STAB moves for taking down foes
Counters Grass with Ice Beam and Toxic
Can tank most moves because of the HP stats and Encore
Overall good Pokemon for Special Attacking, Stalling and Tanking most damage

Cons:
Can be taken down by Electric Pokemon with a lot of Special Attack
and Knock off can be Effective because of leftovers and the opponent could status Politoed.

Moveset:

Scald - Good Stab move and also has a lot of Power with Drizzle and Special Attack EV

Ice Beam - Counters Grass and is also a really good STAB move.

Toxic - great for stalling and adding extra damage for your other Pokemon to finish off

Encore - Great for Stalling as well as Toxic, these two have a great combo for taking down foes
Protect - Good with Toxic for Maximum damage output and also, a defensive move to Stall really well.

Hope this build helps you exceed well with Politoed and makes you adore him/her as much as I do

Gen 6 ZU

Politoed @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 244 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Encore / Scald / Ice Beam

Perish Trapper Politoed. Whirlpool lets you trap Pokemon who aren't Ghost-types and Pokemon who don't have a pivoting move. Perish Song is used as after you trap a Pokemon with Whirlpool so the Pokemon you trapped can faint in 3 turns. Protect lets you get free Leftovers recovery, as well as avoiding damage for a turn while Perish Song is still up. Encore is used to lock opposing Pokemon into a move for a few turns. Scald can be used instead for a STAB move that can cripple physical wallbreakers. Ice Beam can also be used for coverage against Grass- and Dragon-types.

Politoed @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Waterfall
- Whirlpool
- Earthquake

  • Belly Drum (x4 attack, Sitrus Berry heals it when HP is cut)
  • Waterfall (good damage, chance to flinch the target)
  • Whirlpool (traps and damages the target for 4-5 turns, with Belly Drum it does a lot more damage than usual)
  • Earthquake (I don't think I need to explain this one)

Gen VII (PvE/PvP)
Politoed (M) @ Mystic Water / Waterium Z / Life Orb
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD or 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hypnosis
- Surf / Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Mud Bomb

Hypnosis - Puts target to sleep and can set up pretty much anything you have in your arsenal.
Surf/Hydro Pump - Use for STAB and to deal with Fire, Rock, and Ground types. Surf also makes him a great candidate, not only for single battles, but for double battles, too. Surf can heal the right partner while damaging the opposition. It is also a better accuracy choice over the single target Hydro Pump. Hydro Pump is also decent with more power at the expense of less accuracy. It is also good for single battles.
Ice Beam - This is for coverage. It will help fend off Dragon, Grass, Ground, and Flying types.
Mud Bomb - I chose this move over Earthquake for the obvious reason. POLITOAD'S NATURE! Yes, with lower power and lower accuracy, Mud Bomb doesn't seem feasible, but with Politoad's SAtk stat at its max, Mud Bomb's power comes to par, maybe even exceeding Earthquake's power. I haven't done the math, yet. You'll lose a little accuracy as a cost, but the coverage move is worth taking down Fire, Electric (weakness), Poison, Rock, and Steel types.

Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 232 HP / 56 Def / 220 SpD
Calm Nature
- Mind Reader
- Hypnosis
- Whirlpool
- Haze

Use Politoed as a lead for a rain dance team. Use mind reader to hit guaranteed hypnosis or whirlpool. Use haze if your opponent starts to stack up on stats. Politoed is by far my favorite Pokemon and I think this moveset works really well.

SubDrum Politoed set
Gen 8 ZU
Politoed
Politoed @ Salac Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Belly Drum
- Liquidation
- Ice Punch

Should be self-explanatory. Substitute is to help Politoed setup Belly Drum. If you can, use Belly Drum after the Substitute has been setup, knocking Politoed's HP to 25%, activating Salac Berry. Liquidation is STAB. Ice Punch is for grass types.

No one's posted a doubles moveset for Politoed yet? Wow.

Doubles UU

Politoed @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Muddy Water / Scald
- Helping Hand
- Protect
- Icy Wind

Muddy Water is STAB and causes spread damage, but it's accuracy is shaky. If you aren't ok with Muddy Water's accuracy use Scald instead. Helping Hand powers up your ally's next attack. Protect is to keep Politoed safe for a turn. Icy Wind is for speed control. The Damp Rock increases the duration of Politoed's rain.

Gen 6 ZU

Politoed @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Scald / Focus Blast

Choice Specs Politoed set for Gen 6 ZU. Hydro Pump is Politoed's strongest STAB move. Ice Beam lets Politoed deal super effective damage to Pokemon such as Jumpluff, Simisage, Servine, and Vibrava. Hidden Power Grass allows you to hit Pokemon such as opposing Politoed, Simipour, Huntail, and Whiscash with super effective damage. Scald is used as a second STAB option so you don't have to rely on Hydro Pump late-game that has a burn chance, while Focus Blast lets you hit Lairon and Klang harder.
