Ok. . .in my firered, this happened twice. When I used a potion on my Venusaur, it zoomed in on him, and attached the potion to him, just like when you use a tm on a pokemon. The same thing happened when I used it on my Lapras.
This is how it is supposed to happpen. They made it like that to… make it look cool or something. It isn't a glitch they mage it like that so no worries. If you need more info, comment.

Yeah that happens to me on firered too. It only happens to me when I press the A button a lot when I use the potion.
