Mega Venusaur has a useable attack base stat of 100, so why not a bulky sword dance set?

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Synthesis

The trick to using this thing well is to start off early game spamming knock off. People will just suspect another common Venusaur wall. Once all it's checks and counters are gone, though, you can start spamming sword dance and easily sweep. This works amazingly well due to excellent bulk and only two weaknesses.

Venusaur (M) @Heat Rock
Trait:Chlorophyll
Evs: 255 Hp/ 203 Sp.Def/ 103 Def
Nature: Bold +Defence -Speed
-Sunny Day
-Growth
-Synthesis
-Solar Beam

All these moves and the Pokemon's nature plus the trait equals an extraordinary tactic, let me explain in more detail. The move "Sunny Day" Makes the sun light turn harsh and this will be the source of your power. The trait "Chlorophyll" doubles the users speed in the daylight making your Venusaur very fast, since the Pokemon trait is in place, we can afford to waste speed in order to gain defence instead with the "Bold" Nature. The "Bold" nature is there so that the Pokemon's defence against flying types is increased, but what about fire types? Well the reason I put so much into Sp.Def is so that fire type moves won't do as much damage and the reason for that is because fire type moves will increase in power when sunny day is active. For the nature part you can switch it to "Sassy" if you like but in order to cover Venusaur's full weakness, I say you stick with "Bold". Now, this is the part where all the fun starts. As I said earlier, the "Sunny Day" move will be the source of your power. Well; the move "Growth" will increase your attack and special attack stat by 2 stages in sunlight instead of 1, the move "Synthesis" will recover 2/3 of your health in sunlight instead of 1/2 and "Solar Beam" won't take one turn to charge when sunny day is active. In addition to all of that, the item "Heat Rock" will make sunny day last for 8 turns rarther than 5.

I hope this setup helps you win Pokemon battles. Comment and like if this helped you!:D

A set that I would suggest for a normal(NON-MEGA) Venasaur is:
Item: Could be a Rocky Helmet, Leftovers, Sitrus Berry, Black Sludge, or a Dread Plate
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: could be Relaxed, Sassy, Quiet, or Brave
IVs: 31 in every stat
EVs: HP=4, Def=252, SP.Def=252
Moveset:

-Sludge Bomb
-Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Curse

Sun and Moon moveset!

Venusaur @ Firiuim Z
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
-Sunny Day
-Solar Beam
-Sludge Bomb / Hidden Power [Fire] / Toxic
-Synthesis

Z-Sunny Day raises Speed by 1 stage, plus Chlorophyll will double Speed, and Solar Beam will be a one turn powerhouse plus STAB. The other moves are just there, Synthesis will restore health and Sludge Bomb is STAB, Hidden Power [Fire] is sorta coverage, and Toxic is Toxic.

One stage for a z move really

1. Bulky Tank
Venusaur @ Black Sludge / Lum Berry
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Bold / Calm

-Synthesis / Ingrain (Ingrain if there are no Fire or Flying types. This thing can probably handle Psychic and Ice types.)
-Sludge Bomb / Toxic
-Giga Drain
-Petal Dance / Energy Ball

Black Sludge if you're thirsting for more health, Lum Berry if you want a STAB Petal Dance, at the cost of confusion. I prefer Ingrain, but Synthesis is an instaheal for emergencies. Sludge Bomb for the heck of it, STAB, and quite a good chance of poisoning. Toxic to badly poison them, Sludge Wave is a possibility but I much prefer Sludge Bomb over all of them. Giga Drain for health recovery (especially on Pokemon like Whiscash, Swampert, Gastrodon, etc.) and Energy Ball for STAB.

2. Special Sunny Sweeper
Ahh... my favorite.
Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Bold / Modest

-Leech Seed
-Synthesis/Giga Drain
-Growth/Protect
-Solar Beam

Leech Seed to drain the opponent's health, then Giga Drain a couple of times, cuz wynaut? Growth is to boost the Special Atk and Protect is there solely so you won't be a Taunt victim, you know? Now pull off a Growth Sun-Powered STAB Solar Beam for a mind-boggling 240 damage

3. Physical Sweeper
Venusaur @ Black Sludge / Power Herb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp Def
Nature: Adamant / Impish / Rash / Jolly

-Earthquake
-Petal Blizzard/Growth
-Leaf Storm/Power Whip
-Skull Bash/Swords Dance

This is surprising. Expect me to run a special set? Think again. Start with a subtle hint: Leaf Storm. Since it's the only special move in this set, you should be O.K. Earthquake to get rid of Fire types (watch out for Charizard!).
Petal Blizzard/Growth next. Growth shouldn't give you away...yet. Petal Blizzard for STAB. After raging at all the Fire types start spamming Petal Blizzard/Earthquake.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite

Role: Mixed Tank
Bold Nature (+def -sp. def)
Ability: Thick Fat

EVs : 252 HP / 196 def / 56 SpD

-Leech Seed
-Amnesia
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb

So, Venusaur has really good base stats for a defensive playstyle. Because most of the EVs are going into Defense, I would use Amnesia to boost Special Defense. Strat: Leech Seed, Amnesia until +6, Giga Drain + Sludge Bomb stall.

Here is a bulky offensive Venusaur:

Pokemon: Venusaur
Item: Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll —> Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP/4 Sp. Def/252 Sp. Atk
Modest Nature

  • Giga Drain
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Growth
  • Synthesis

Giga Drain is good STAB and heals Venusaur. Sludge Bomb is for more STAB. Growth increases Venusaur’s ability to wallbreak, and Synthesis is reliable recovery, especially in sun.

Hope you like this set!

Venusaur @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 125 SpD / 125 Def/6 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Synthesis
- Growth
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Solar Beam

Sun team sweeper. Fairly fast, with Rocky helmet for physical side and +sp def nature for special side. Set up with growth, then either HP fire or Solar Beam your way through everything. One of the best case scenarios is if venusaur gets hit by flare blitz, survives, then the opponent suffers from Rocky helmet AND recoil while you gain right back up with synthesis. BFF with mega Charizard Y :3

Been playing with Venusaur this gen. If you have Chlorophyll, try Normalium-Z for Z-Growth special sun sweeper.
Single setup will have SpAtk at +3 ig the sun's up, so you can now afford to run a Timid nature for some slower scarfers, or go ape with a Modest nature.M

Venusaur @ Normalium Z
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 HP / 4 Spe (or play around with the HP, Def, SpD to Spe EV ratio to balance speed and bulkiness)
Timid (+Spe,-Atk) or Modest (+SpA,-Atk) Nature
-Growth
-Sludge Bomb
-Giga Drain / Solar Beam
-Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Ground] / Hidden Power [Rock]

Have another Pokemon set up Sunny Day and avoid Fire types initially. Some bulk investment should allow Venusaur to tank one super effective unboosted move (except Fire) and set up with Z-Growth. At +3 SpA Venusaur can demolish almost anything, especially late-game. The Hidden Power type should be catered to whatever else needs coverage in the team, though Fire is generally the best.
If nothing else, this set is a hell of a lot of fun.

This moveset is for a Mega Venusaur
Ability: Thick Fat - Eliminates two of Venusaur’s main weaknesses
Item: Venusaurite
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252Def, 252SpDef, 4SpAtk
IVs: 31 in every stat
Moveset
Toxic - Chip damage doubling every turn
Synthesis - Regaining HP is one of the most important things for a support to do
Protect - Keeping sage from damage can really help a team
Venoshock - Use this only on a poisoned target, base power 130 + Stab for poisoned targets
Hope this helps a lot for anyone who sees this moveset

Venusaur@Life Orb
ABILITY: Chlorophyll
NATURE: Modest (+SpAtk -Atk)
EVs: 252 SpAtk/252 Spd/4 HP

Giga Drain
Sludge Bomb
Growth
Hidden Power (Fire)

Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb are STAB. Growth sharply raises Venusaur's Attack and Sp.Atk in sun, so this can be a good tool to use. Hidden Power Fire to hit some weaknesses and its power gets boosted in sun. Best used on sun teams, because of ability and moves.

Gen 8 Venusaur Set
Venusaur (M) @ Heat Rock
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Nature: Modest / Timid
Role: Sunny Day Sweeper

-Sunny Day
-Weather Ball
-Solar Beam
-Earth Power

Explanation:
Venusaur's ability Chlorophyll will double its speed when intense sun is out, this works really well with a sun team, and if you are running a sun team with a Pokemon that can already set up the sun, Sunny Day could be replaced with Sludge Bomb for some Fairy coverage. However, since Weather Ball will be a Fire type move in the sun, there is no reason to have a Poison type move for Grass types, and it's very unlikely someone will switch a Fairy type in anyways, suspecting you have a Poison type move. Solar Beam is one of Venusaur's hardest hitting moves with STAB and the sun will fire it off right away. The biggest problems would be Psychic types and Flying types, but even a 100 base power Fire type Weather Ball should hit a Flying Type very hard. A one turn Solar Beam should hit Psychic types very hard too. Also, since Hidden Power was removed from Sword and Shield, Weather Ball is a more viable option, and the setup makes it a lot better than Hidden Power [Fire] anyways. Since most of these moves are base power 100 or more, most will do lots of damage even without setting up. Modest nature would help if you think it is not hitting hard enough, and Timid would help if you want to make sure you outspeed almost all of the time.

This is my first time ever posting a set so some feedback might be helpful, thinking about posting even more sets.

Don't have sunny day on venusaur. Have a torkoal or ninetales be on your team with the drought ability. Replace sunny day with sludge bomb.

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 164 HP / 200 SpA / 44 SpD / 100 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Earth Power
- Sludge Bomb

This is what I would run probably.

Why is it level 50? What format is this supposed to be?
Sorry I made it on smogon.
Bad ev spread. You want to be as fast and strong a possible. Why are you setting your own sun when you can have weather ball?
No, bulky is good on Venusaur.
you're clearly using it as a fast sun sweeper, so it should be as fast and as strong as possible
For evs, try using 252 Sp.Atk, 4 Sp.Def, and 252 Spd. For the nature: I would recommend Modest.

Special Attack sweeper

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
Modest Nature
EVs: 252 SpA / 128 HP / 128 Spd

sunlight sp atk

-Solar Beam: powerful STAB + sunlight
-Earth Power: coverage, I'm also using it for doubles so it beats Earthquake
-Sludge Bomb: Grass coverage
-Giga Drain: powerful STAB and can recover HP

This is my first time answering on this site so sorry if I missed something

Why two STAB Grass type moves?

Venusaur (F) @ Black Sludge/ Venusaurite (if in gen 6, 7 or LG
Ability: Chlorophyll
Shiny: Yes
Gigantamax: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power / Sunny Day
- Giga Drain / Solar Beam (If with Sunny Day)
- Sludge Bomb / Protect / Hidden Power Fire
- Synthesis / Earth Power (If with Sunny Day)
I get it. This set is pretty awful but not every set needs Solar Beam, especially one with Giga Drain, a good move, Sludge Bomb, to poison foes, but this set is weak to levitating Pokemons, well, that's a problem so Hidden Power Fire would be nice. Earth Power covers Poison and Steel types.
I've hoped I've helped!

For @Mystix false gen1 answer, I made a proper one
Stall set
Venusaur
Ability: None
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 Special / 252 Spe
- Toxic
- Leech Seed
- Mega Drain
- Sleep Powder
Toxic and Leech Seed does double damage in gen 1. Mega Drain is a damage dealing move that will heal up Venusaur too. While Sleep Powder will make the oppoment fall asleep so that Venusaur has time to take out the oppoment slowly.
Mod notes: This set is for generation 1, Generation 1 has no EV limit. Abilities weren't introduced yet, there were also no items too. I input "Special" in one of the EVs as before generation 2, the SpA and SpD are merged into one stat known as Special.

Gen 8 OU

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature

  • Giga Drain
  • Weather Ball
  • Earth Power
  • Growth

You're going to be using this in the sun with Torkoal 99.9% of the time. Giga Drain is STAB and healing. Weather Ball becomes a 100 base power Fire type move in the sun, giving it coverage against Ice types. Earth Power covers Fire types, as well as Poison types which resist Venusaur's STAB moves. Sludge Bomb is STAB and has a solid chance to poison the enemy, Growth raises Special Attack by 2 in the sun (and also raises Attack by 2 but it's not like you're going to be using that)

Alqays max speed for eleki. Giga drain is preffered over either of them. Earth power is rare, and groth is a must, as otherwise its worse than otherwise sun users.

Gen 7 OU / National Dex OU

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll / Overgrow ----> Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SpD / 36 Spe
Calm Nature

  • Toxic
  • Leech Seed
  • Earth Power / Knock Off
  • Giga Drain

Toxic is for residual damage. Leech Seed for more residual damage + healing. Earth Power does pretty good damage while Knock Off removes items, reducing the amount of turns the enemy has left on the battlefield (Knock Off pairs very well with Leech Seed, since Leech Seed is cleared if the seeded Pokemon switches, therefore the Pokemon coming in is guaranteed to be crippled). Giga Drain is STAB and more healing.
