Why do we have a chatroom?

I'm curious about the Chatroom. I think it was a great idea, but I would like to know why it was included.

I'm pretty sure it was just because PM wanted a place for people to hang around and talk to others about Pokemon. From my understanding, users just used to talk by commenting on posts. PM thought it would be easier to create a specific room for doing this.

The Chat Room is used to (SURPRISE) chat. It's a place where pokemon fanatics can shmooze, talk about competitive stuff, set up trades, or generally have a good time. You meet new people and can have some good friends there. And that is the fundamental reason why any place has a chat room.
