I know that its bad to post on old posts, but just to make sure my idea of "old posts" is the same as the moderators', how old would a post have to be to be considered "too old"? Are there any exceptions, like suggested in-game team or moveset questions that tend to be more popular and could have a variety of different answers?

Age really doesn't matter too much with this. It all comes down to what you're adding; after all, a post that was resolved five minutes ago really isn't much different from one that was resolved two years ago. The rule is basically that: if what you post adds something new, feel free to post it. Some examples of when you could add a post:

  • If you're correcting an statement or answer that is wrong, by all means add the post.
  • If the answer lacks detail and you have lots more ideas to add to it, go ahead.
  • Moveset posts and in-game team posts are "threads" and can be posted on whenever, since there are always new ideas to add! Just makes sure you're not posting something that's already there.

If your post fits under any of the above, you can basically ignore that date on it. Some examples of when you probably shouldn't add anything:

  • If you're going to comment with "that's cool" or any other simple statement like that. You can keep that to yourself. This guideline is less strict for more recent posts. Anything under a day old is fine really.
  • You're posting a new answer, but it's not adding anything new. This is one of the most common reasons why some posts aren't approved. They're just repeats and they don't need to be there.
