I'm pretty sure the main reason is to prevent alt accounts from up-voting each other.
Not a full answer, but it's to prevent people from upvoting their own posts and ban evading. Sites like reddit allow multiple accounts (as far as I know) because having a high amount of points diesn't do much, but here, the amount of points you have matters more because having 6,000 allo ws you to get expert.
What would be the point of having an alt account on a site like this anyways?
I had to make an alternate account because my main one got banned for some reason
Other than that.
Buddy voting and ban evading
But buddy voting and ban evading isn’t allowed lol
exactly, i think you can put two and two together and figure out why alt accounts aren't allowed either
Yeah, I’ve already figured out why alts aren’t allowed. I was just implying that ban evasion and and buddy voting isn’t allowed either, therefore not a good reason to allow the right to create alt accounts.

An alternate account would allow you to upvote yourself.

If you had one, any and all points you got would be called into question, because you may have given them to yourself.

Its a trust issue.
