More questions are being closed, what's going on?

Seems like there's a crackdown on questions, I'm seeing way more questions closed than before.

I closed a bunch of questions on the unanswered list a few days ago, but most of them were months old. I don't think anybody was going to put in the effort to find an answer for them any time soon.

Probably because the closed feature is new, of course people want to use it.

Personally, I have made what you might call a crackdown on 'low quality' questions on this website in recent times. The specifics of that are a work in progress, and I would like them to be more clearly defined than they are at the moment. However, fairly extensive discussions have already been made on the topic. I plan for that to continue, in addition to wider discussions about the kinds of questions we want to see on this site.

This change may have reverberated through what appears to be an increase in 'closed' questions: though bear in mind that we would have hidden those same questions before the closing function was added recently. Our moderating actions are simply more visible than they were some time ago.
