Meta-PokéBase Q&A

It’s 2024, and whoever decided they would actually help RMT(most likely no one) isn’t living up to what they said, as the last rated team was March 18. Last month. Here in the meta, we are like normal(Insane, me included) and things are also going well in the Q&A, but a lot of time, RMT gets a lot of unanswered questions. The only comments you see here (If you see this and don’t approve FieryHalamar I will change it) is a question about bss and retagging for Battle Tree. This happens to a lot of questions, and we need a person who has experience with a lot of different formats.
If we clog up RMT with unanswered questions, eventually the majority of people won’t ask in RMT, which leads to more “we should close RMT because of blah blah blah and so on and so forth” and less “we should fix RMT” so when that happens, some other people(who don’t know that RMT is still a ghost town) will ask for one. In order for RMT to survive and succeed, we NEED more participation for answers.

The fact is the majority of users on this site have dropped competitive Pokémon for the most part a long time ago. There aren’t many people who have Metagame knowledge for this current Gen.

Another thing is those users who play competitively and have a decent knowledge of their metagame (Me, you, Rising Manectric Senjoma-can’t remember the rest), and BananaBroSHSID (come back bro) can only play in so many Metas (or like so many metas). The more metas you play the less you start to know about each meta since you only have a limited amount of time.

Thirdly, the majority of unanswered questions are about Doubles, which nobody on this site besides you seems to play.

There are a couple ways we could approach this:

1. Get volunteers to learn about two or three Metas they would like to do. This could work to an extent, but could create places where only certain people can get points all the time. There is also is a chance people will fake being knowledgeable about a Meta. Like a noob at ZU could come and act like an expert. Since nobody here plays ZU, we can’t really correct any points that person makes.

2. Hope competitive players find this site somehow. :(
"I play DOU for fun but if anyone wants, I'll spend most of my time there & not Randoms"
Now is probably the time
It’s your choice if you want to get good at that Meta and spend more time in it or not.
I play meta but I'm not very strategic
At the end of the day it's a neglected part of a website about answering questions about Pokemon. Don't waste your time trying to learn more about different metas just to answer four questions in the next year. People who ask here can ask on Smogon and so forth if they don't get an answer
Then there is no point in RMT. The whole idea is we can answer faster than Smogon. If we don’t answer, they all go to Smogon. If they all go to Smogon, the only thing we do is complain about it taking internet. Then RMT is removed. The end if we take this route. We can find another route just by being active in RMT.
None of this is particularly new information. At this point, RMT is a “ghost town” because it doesn’t separate itself from its competitors (Smogon), who have MUCH more consistently active users, even if their quality might not still be the greatest on the world.

There is no point in continuing RMT in the state it is in, unless there is a major reworking which Amethyst theorized, such as more in-game teams or help with building around movesets. When a couple people try getting into new metas, it works for a while, I even partook in that. However, burnout and life hit fast in RMT, as you realize that rating posts with quality take a while, and that you are essentially sweeping up after a tornado during tornado season, with ten new posts to every one of your answers. Too many people use RMT to ask questions compared to those who answer, and those who answer find it much harder to keep up the activity.

the unfortunate reality is that RMT needs a full rework to become something actually usable, at least imo. I don't feel a reason to participate or encourage others to participate in a flawed and struggiling system. Sure, we could probably find some way to encourage users to post there more, but if fundamental issues aren't fixed then it will just remain a temporary solution,
yeah, rmt being dead is very, very, old news. Over half a decade old. unfortunately, i don't know anything about competitive, so I don't even check that section. If there were a good handful of users dedicated to answering rmt, i think even then it would be so much better. anyone know if anyone is actively on rmt?
@Silver no one is active as in posts in it once a week or something. After looking at the first page of recent questions, 13 RMTs are unanswered. Most of them are double formats or Monotype. A couple are really bad OU teams that probably will never get rated.
I am starting to get into competitive pokemon for fun and playing a lot of reg g and f but the problem is that I am not very good
Well yeah it’s now getting more content ever since I posted this but there are still more questions than answers and that’s a problem
The main reason that RMT is extremely inactive is because there are not enough users on this website who are knowledgeable on competitive Pokémon and willing to put in the time and effort to rate teams. Until this changes, RMT is going to remain inactive. I used to be active on RMT a long while back but stopped because most posts nowadays are about Gen 9 formats that I know nothing about, though I still post occasionally when a team for a format I know about is posted. I'm going to politely request some of my friends on smogon to post in RMT but I don't expect a lot of results because most smogon users don't have accounts here.
