Share your best in-game teams for Pokemon X and Y on this thread! Teams should be aimed toward making casual runs of the game efficient, enjoyable and hassle-free.

Please follow these guidelines regarding detail in your post:

  1. For every Pokemon on the team, give recommended moves for use throughout the playthrough. Ideally, comment on more than just the four moves you'll finish with post-game.
  2. You can include items, abilities, etc. but they are not necessary.
  3. Provide explanation and detail. Justify your Pokemon and moveset choices; possible discussion points include ease-of-use, team synergy, and coverage for key battles.

Please also follow these guidelines regarding the contents of your team:

  1. If you recommend a Pokemon that is restricted by version exclusivity, trade evolution or events, please mention alternatives for people who cannot get the Pokemon. Do the same if you recommend moves, etc. that are only available by breeding or grinding.
  2. There are some unspoken rules of in-game teams, such as to keep the starter on the team and avoid legendaries. It's kind to give other options if you break these rules.
  3. Do not recommend Pokemon, moves, etc. that are only available through glitches and cheats. Please also avoid Pokemon etc. that are only available through trade or transfer.
  4. Original content only. You may use ideas you found elsewhere, but do not steal written content.

Submit your team as an answer, not a comment. To keep things tidy, we will remove any teams posted as comments in this thread. If you want to update your post, use the 'edit' button.

Please be sparing with images and formatting.

For Greninja Lovers, Use This Team!

Greninja (Pick up Frokiae from Tireno in Aquacorde Town)

Nickname: Amphinobi (Greninja’s French Name)

Final Moveset:

Surf
Ice Beam
Extrasensory
Grass Knot

Nature: Timid or Modest

Notes: Ice Beam is for Dragon Types and Grass Knot is for Other Water Types. At the End of the Game, Swap Grass Knot for Dark Pulse if you want to defeat Marvla’s Chanderlue.

Charizard (Pick up Charmander after defeating Sycamore in a battle in Lumiose City)

Depending on your version you will get a Charizadite X if playing X or Charizardite Y if playing Y.

If Playing X:

Nickname: Dragon Bleu (French for Blue Dragon Even if it is Black with Blue Flames)

Final Moveset:
Flare Blitz
Fly
Dragon Claw
Earthquake

Nature: Jolly or Adamant

If Playing Y:

Nickname: Apollo if Male (God of Sun) Alexstarza if Female (The Female Red Dragon in World of Warcraft)

Final Moveset:
Flamethrower
Solar Beam
Earthquake
Fly

Nature: Hasty or Mild

Notes: If Playing Y, there is a 12.5% chance to find a female Charmander. If you see a female Charmander, name it that latter name above if you are a fan of World of Warcraft! If not name her, Dragosoliel which is a combination of Drago (a nickname for dragons) and Soliel (French of Sun). Also, we need Fly for both Charizards because we need to travel the Kalos Region Quicker!

Gogoat (Catch a Skidoo on Route 5)

Nickname: Chevre (French for Goat)

Final Moveset:
Horn Leech
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Bulk Up

Nature: Adamant

Aegislash (Catch a Honedge in the Route near Parfum Palace which is Route 6)

Nickname: Hexcauilbar (A Combination of Hex and Excauilbar, a famous sword)

Final Moveset:
Iron Head
Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball
Sacred Sword
King’s Shield

Nature: Adamant or Brave

Notes: Find a Dusk Stone after using Super Training or Find it in Teremius Cave after doing the Rock Smash Puzzle.

Syevelon (Catch an Eevee in Route 10 and evolve it with high affection in Poké-Amine and a Fairy type Move too!)

Nickname: Cupcake (Like a Small Dessert)

Final Moveset:
Moonblast
Draining Kiss
Shadow Ball
Calm Mind

Nature: Modest

Goodra (Catch a Goomy in Route 14)

Nickname: Murasaki (Japanese for Purple)

Final Moveset:
Dragon Pulse
Flamethrower
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast

Nature: Modest

Notes: Evolve Silgoo into Goodra when it is raining in the overworld not by Rain Dance.

Why use Bulldoze instead of Earthquake on Gogoat?
Here’s why? I wanted Bulldoze on Gogoat because of single use! Just kidding in XY, TMs are multiple use and I want to teach Earthquake to both Charizard and Gogoat! And I am going to notice a lot of people to use this Greninja team!

Starter: Greninja @ Mystic Water
Moves:

  • Surf
  • Water Shuriken
  • Dark Pulse
  • Ice Beam

Surf and Water Shuriken are STAB, so is Dark Pulse. Ice Beam for grass coverage. Surf is also hm.

Charizard @ Charizardite X

  • Fly
  • Flamethrower
  • Earthquake
  • Dragon Claw

Fly and Flamethrower are STAB. Dragon Claw is STAB when Mega Evolved. Earthquake is for 4x rock weakness.

Ampharos @ Zap Plate

  • Thunderbolt
  • Power Gem
  • Singal Beam
  • Thunder Wave

Thunderbolt is STAB. Power Gem and Signal Beam for coverage. Thunder Wave for catching Pokémon and Paralysis is useful in battles.

Aegislash @ Steel Coat/Iron Plate

  • Iron Head
  • Shadow Claw
  • Sacred Sword
  • Kings Shield/Swords Dance

Overused Pokémon but still great. Iron Head and Shadow Claw are STAB. Sacred Sword for Normal types. Kings Shield is a great defensive move but if you are more offensive you can use swords dance.

Gardevoir

  • Psychic
  • Moonblast
  • Shadow Ball
  • Light Screen/Protect

One of my favorite Pokémon of all time and it got better in this Gen because of added Fairy type. Psychic and Moonblast are STAB. Shadow Ball comes of its great special attack stat. Light Screen or Protect depending if you want special defense or defense.

Roserade

  • Giga Drain
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Grass Knot
  • Toxic

Giga Drain is for healing Roserade and STAB. Sludge Bomb is STAB. Grass Knot is STAB and many of rock and ground Pokémon are heavy. Toxic is for battles you need to stall out to win or just for extra damage each turn.
