Pokemon X and Y tipping?

Question

You can tip to very many people in X and Y but what does it give? I have heard a rumor about that it increases the chance to encounter a shiny but is this really true?

There's no confirmed use for tipping NPC's in the game, and rumors are only rumors.
Only way to be absolutely sure is when someone manages to hack into the game and look at the specific code that's set up for tipping.
(Or when some official Pokemon source gets us a clue)

no it may be but as of right now know one knows. when game freak or someone on the internet finds out how the word will spread around very fast
