Where did the Hero from ORAS move from?

Question

As anyone who has played the game knows, the Hero (your character) moves from an unknown place to Littleroot town. But where is this location? It sounds like the Hero's dad has been in Petalburg for a while, but the Hero and their mother are completely new to the whole region, as they know nothing about it.

Are they from another region? Or just another town in Hoenn?

My gut says Johto, but I don't know if it's from reading too many fan theories or if it was actual dialogue >w<

In the manga, they specifically say that they moved from Johto, but it isn't very reliable.

Fun Abstract Fact

It has been theorized that Whitney is in fact Norman's daughter/the player's sister. This is because Norman's family is from Johto, they're both Normal Gym Leaders, Whitney is a new Gym Leader and people obsess over Whitney too much. There's no proof to this theory though.

I think the PC themselves have moved from Johto, otherwise the rival (May in this case) will have lived there all their life if i'm correct.
