What happens if you reach 999:99 hours of playtime in a Pokémon game?

Will you not be able to play the game anymore? Just curious, and also kind of worried.

If you reach 999:99 something's wrong, because there aren't 99 minutes in an hour. :P

Assuming that you mean 999:59, nothing happens except that timer won't count forward any more. You can play for as long as you like. Your game won't end. That would be stupid.
