What's going on with Marshshadow access?

So Marshadow is pretty cute, and eveyrging, but where on Nirn can you get it!? It was introduced SM, but PMDB says to trade from another game???

It's an event pokemon, like the Munchlax holding Snorlium Z or the Pokeball style Vivillion.

Marshadow is the stereotyped tiny-and-cute-yet-powerful-event-exclusive-mythical of gen 7, the successor of Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Shaymin, Victini and Diancie. We could be waiting a long time before an event finally drops, and the Japanese will probably get it first.

Marshadow is currently unreleased with no official reveal or announced release date. We only know about it from data mining.
