Can Pokemon from Gold and Silver (Visual Console) be transported into Moon?

Can Pokemon from Gen 2 be transported into Moon? If so, how do I do this?

According to Bulbapedia, this will become possible sometime in December this year.

From what I understand. No, you cannot transport Pokemon from the original GBC carts of Gold and Silver to Sun and Moon.

BUT.

With the Virtual Console re-release of Gold and Silver, you can, later this year, use the PokeBank and PokeTransporter service to transport your Pokemon from your Gen 2 VC titles to your Gen 7 Sun or Moon and Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.
