Why is the official artwork for Mega Alakazam shiny?

I think it's just supposed to be a lighter shade of brown than in the models. It isn't really purple enough to actually be shiny, in my opinion.

It's just a different shade of colour, but isn't actually shiny. This is kinda like how when Rowlet evolves in Dartrix its green changes colours. This doesn't make it a shiny, it just shows they wanted a different colour for that certain stage.

He isn't asking why the mega evolution is different from the base form. He's asking why the mega evolution's art is different from the mega evolution's sprite. This doesn't answer the question.
