I ordinarily don't ask this sort of question, but I'm curious. I'm getting into the Gen 8 Monotype format on Showdown, and I'd like to play around with an Ice team (yes I know they're bad, shut up). Glastrier seems to be a nice tank that can give me some much-needed defensive power and more offensive power, plus it has a pretty solid movepool. What are its pros and cons, and is it outclassed by others? I'd like to know how it fares against other physical Ice types in general, but more specifically, Zen Mode Galarian Darmanitan.

Thanks in advance.

I think its decent but the problem is ice isnt a very good type, and because it can only fit on ice type teams so it doesnt work so well
Than again I stopped playing monotype after kyurem black got banned so I domt know much about how tjings are right now :P
It is outclassed by slush rush sandslash (alolan)
Better to use with trick room support.
And lastly, don't freakin use mono-ice!
Mono-ice is near-impossible, godspeed. Last time I tried I just had so much difficulty getting synergies to work - let me know if you think you got it to work well.

(This answer was given in monotype chatroom, showdown)
It's pretty good in sweeping ,late game cleaning and isn't outclassed by alolan sandslash.(contrary to my thinking). They do different things. People underestimate this thing but it's very good.
here's a set :

Glastrier @ Leftovers
Ability: Chilling Neigh
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Icicle Crash
- High Horsepower

It's works well for a defensive core AND offensive core. Best functions in aroura veil/ trick room.
Hope I Helped!

Thanks for the answer. Would you mind elaborating on why it isn't outclassed by Alolan Sandslash? Additionally, I think you missed the last bit of my question. Is Galarian Zen Darmanitan better than it offensively? Should I use that instead? Thanks :)
Why not outclassed by slush rush sandslash alolan:
1) superior every stat except speed.
2) sandslash *needs* hail to function at all. Glastrier has it's own bulk to survive.
3) 4 times fire weakness. Fire type coverage is something many Pokémon can afford. Fire monotype is not uncommon either.
Darmanitan question's answer:
It depends on your team. You need a fast paced sweeper with almost always get  OHKOed bulk or a slow bulky sweeper. If going with trick room, glastrier is obvious choice. :)
