PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I've been wondering this for a while now.

My games

I know that my copy of Pokemon Diamond is legitimate. I bought it off of Amazon from Nintendo. It is a legitimate cartridge, and has never failed me at all.

I realized a couple months ago my Black 2 cartridge was darker than my Diamond cartridge, which I thought was strange and probably meant it wasn't legitimate. I bought Black 2 as a used game at GameStop. It did not come with a case, and the past owner of the game was in Nimbasa. The cartridge is beat up a little bit, (as you can see in the second pic,) and makes sense as it probably has been around for about ten years, and I bought it three years ago. The only problem I've ever had with the cartridge is that sometimes it doesn't load into my DS, and I have to reinsert it before my Ds registers that it is there.

Thanks in advance!

I believe all of the Gen 5 games are darker than other DS cartridges. I believe there are some other games that also have black cartridges, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
I think that just means there's a bit of dust on the B2 cartridge. One way to check is to try somehow making your cartridge communicate with another game or another copy of B2.

From what you gave us, it's legit.

I have a Pokemon Black 2 catridge that I know for a fact is legit, and it's the same black color as yours. As for the not loading into the DS, sumwun sums it up pretty well:

I have had the exact same problem with my catridges, but just cleaning it a bit made it work perfectly fine. As you said, the catridge is a bit beat up and it looks like the gold part has some dust on it. As sumwun said, you can also check by trying to connect with another game.

Ok thanks, I have used it to connect to Poke Transporter and the DNS exploit, I have always kind of wanted to try to trade with another gen 5 game I'll try that
It's almost certainly real if it can connect to Poke Transporter and do the DNS exploit.
@SpookyTerrain How is the code on the front of your cartridge (in the bottom right corner) vertically aligned? In GMaxWaluigi’s image, it’s nearly touching the graphic above, while in other DS Pokémon cartridges, it’s vertically centered in that white strip at the bottom. Normally I’d say that this is a pretty big red flag for a fake cartridge, but I’ve looked at B2 cartridges online before, and a lot of the ones claiming to be real (although not all of them) are printed like this, and Waluigi’s in particular seems pretty legit. I think it’s probably a printing quirk that made its way on legitimate cartridges, but it would be good if we could confirm that.
I am surprised I haven't noticed that, thank you krlw
Double checking, and mine does have the same thing. The code (TWL-IREO-USA) is in the very top right of the white box on the bottom, identical to GmaxWaluigi's.
