PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

Last night, I FINALLY managed to get sync adventure working on Pokemon Go on my Android, but last night before bed, to help me sleep uninterrupted, I shut down my phone for the night, and now this morning, I cannot log into Pokemon Go. I looked up the server status and it SAYS that it's online, so that's not the problem. Is it bricked?

Info: what error message are you getting, and why do you think your phone resetting caused it?
-smoothie- It's saying at login "Login failed" With the following options: Retry, and Try a different account.
Ok, so, there’s nothing you can accidentally do that can brick pogo. I know for a fact that you turning on adventure sync and then turning off your phone has nothing to do with why it won’t load.

In my experience, it’s usually just an issue with the cache or data. Is your data turned on? Is your service good? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Restarting your phone again?

Pogo works poorly on androids. It’s a common issue. It’ll happen a lot. It’ll eventually just fix itself, but the things above can help resolve it faster
-smoothie- Then, please tell me what I can do. I haven't had that issue until JUST this morning. Was trying to login to claim my daily rewards, as I've been doing each morning for several days now, but all of a sudden, it had that login error. I tried it several times, and it didn't work. I can't  even expect it to work now, either. I wonder if there's really ANY use in trying it again....
That’s a tad dramatic. It’ll work again; don’t worry. It’s just bugging out.

Try the following:

-force closing all your apps (Android: Tap Settings > Apps > Pokémon GO > Force Stop)
- clear your cache (Open the Settings app on your device. Tap Storage > Games. Select the Pokémon GO app. Tap Clear cache.)
-turn off and on your data/wifi, ensure it’s working
- turn off and on your phone again
-uninstall and reinstall the app

Try these and let me know if any of these help
-smoothie- I tried the first solution, then tried to clear my cache before I tested to see if either worked, it wouldn't let me clear my cache, and the first solution isn't working. I'm not even sure that there is ANY guarantee that at LEAST one of those solutions will work. Also, I worry that if I uninstall and reinstall Pokemon Go on my Android, I COULD lose my progress. I'm not sure if both of my eggs are still going to be in my incubators, with their progress saved or not. I hope that, if I DO need to resort to that solution, that the cloud will store not just most, but ALL of my progress. Also, I had help both to get my phone AND to start this Pokemon Go account, and I cannot remember what password that I told my "helper" to make for me when setting it up, so even if it DOES store the app data on the cloud, it could cause problems if I have to remember and put in my account password. I HOPE that I can get some really good advice soon...
That’s…. That’s not how it works. You don’t lose any progress by logging out or uninstalling the app.

For the password, you can just press forgot password
Additionally, if you use a Google account for Pokemon Go and you uninstall the app or clear your cache, your data will all be on that account. I'm sure you don't even need to log in with your accounts password if you give Pokemon Go access to your Google account, and of course, if you use one.
Have you tried relogging in to Pokemon Go? If you are given the message "login failed" when in the loading screen, just hit "try a different account" and then relog in with your username and password.

If you are given that message when you log in with your username and password,  although this isn't very scientific, my method is just to get off the game for a couple hours or days and it will always eventually let you log in, as long as you are using your correct account details.
BaronVonThomason III, I JUST tried both of those things, and neither one has worked...
You got to be more specific. What did it say when you just tried?
-smoothie-, it said that I failed to authenticate. It didn't even let me type in my username and password and it said that.

No, turning off your android with adventure sync turned on will not brick Pokémon Go in itself.

There's been no evidence to support that statement as far as I can find. Unfortunately, I don't know what would've caused it.

As stated above, here is a useful resource for trouble-shooting.
