Qwilfish-Hisui @ Eviolite
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 116 HP / 140 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Barb Barrage
- Crunch / Liquidation / Self-Destruct

While almost certainly outclassed in OU, Hisuian Qwilfish might serve a role in lower tiers where its decent speed, great defensive typing, and access to Intimidate are greatly appreciated. Qwilfish benefits from the Eviolite, giving it better bulk than its evolution, Overqwil. Intimidate provides Qwilfish even more of an opening to get moves off. The EVs give Qwilfish a solid mix of bulk as well as offensive prowess. Spikes allows you to set up hazards. Taunt stops many threats of status, and any Prankster Pokemon that tries to status Qwilfish will ultimately fail due to its partial Dark typing. Barb Barrage is STAB and threatens the opposing Pokemon by poisoning it, and also breaks potential Focus Sash users. Crunch is strong Dark STAB, but Liquidation is coverage against Hisuian Qwilfish's only weakness, Ground. Self-Destruct prevents Rapid Spin users from removing the hard earned Spikes set up. Tera Water pairs very nicely with this set, removing the Ground weakness and powering up Liquidation if you opt to run it.

Gen 9 NU Specially Defensive

Qwilfish-Hisui @ Eviolite
Ability: Intimidate / Poison Point
Tera Type: Grass / Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 240 SpD / 16 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Barb Barrage
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Haze

A Hisuian Qwilfish set that is defensive. Hisuian Qwilfish's Poison/Dark typing, utility moves, and good bulk due to Eviolite allows it to serve as a special wall in NU. For those wondering why you should Hisuian Qwilfish over its Johtonian cousin, it is because the Poison/Dark typing is useful to check Pokemon such as Rotom, Cacturne, Appletun, and Lurantis. Barb Barrage is used for the Poison STAB due to its 50% chance to poison along with its power being doubled when the opposing Pokemon is poisoned. Spikes allows Hisuian Qwilfish to lay down a hazard that chips grounded Pokemon. Taunt is useful to shut down slow Pokemon from using status moves, trying to setup, or trying to setup hazards. Haze is a nice move for Hisuian Qwilfish to have to get rid of the stat boosts from setup sweepers. Eviolite is used for the item to give Hisuian Qwilfish bulk. Grass may seem like a bad Tera Type for Hisuian Qwilfish, but it is useful to resist Ground moves in addition to being able to resist Electric moves from Pokemon such as Rotom and Eelektross. Ground can be used instead to have an Electric immunity. Intimidate is used to lower the attack of physical wallbreakers. Poison Point can be used instead to punish physical pivots such as Scyther and Bombirdier for using a move such as U-turn.

252 HP EVs are used for bulk. 16 Speed EVs with a Jolly Nature allows Hisuian Qwilfish to outspeed Max Speed Cacturne, allowing Hisuian Qwilfish to prevent Cacturne from using Spikes with Taunt. The rest of the EVs are used in Special Defense to help out with Hisuian Qwilfish's base 55 Special Defense.

Gen 9 Monotype Physically Defensive (Dark)

Overqwil @ Black Sludge
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Barb Barrage
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Taunt

A Physically Defensive set Overqwil can use on Dark teams in Monotype. Overqwil's bulk and Ability Initimidate lets it check physical wallbreakers such as Chien-Pao. Barb Barrage is used for the Poison STAB due to its 50% chance to poison along with its power being doubled when the opposing Pokemon is poisoned. Spikes and Toxic Spikes are used for hazards that Overqwil can set to punish Pokemon switching in. Spikes is used to chip grounded Pokemon, while Toxic Spikes poisons grounded Pokemon. Taunt is useful to shut down slower defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex, Corviknight, and Dondozo. Black Sludge is used for the item to let Overqwil recover some HP.

Sacrificial Gimmick Sweep
Gen 9 UU Doubles
Overqwil @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera: Poison/ Dark
Evs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Fell Stinger
- Aqua Jet
- Poison Jab
- Crunch
Teamate
Lv 1 Murkrow @ Does Not Matter, Sacrifice.
Ability: Prankster
Tera: Does Not Matter, Sacrifice
Evs: Does Not Matter, Sacrifice.
Does Not Matter, Sacrifice Nature
- Tailwind

Bronzong @ Light Clay
Ability: Heatproof/ Leviate
Tera: Doesn’t matter
Evs: 252 Hp / 252 Spe / 4 SpDef
Calm Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Safeguard
- Rain Dance

Gimmick Plan:
I’m surprised Overquil doesn’t have an offensive set yet. This is the Biggest-Big of the Big brain gimmick. Murkrow uses Tailwind with priority. Overquil OHKOs its teamate with Fell Stinger. Overquil is a 3+ Attack with double speed sweeper in one turn. Now you have to be the one to KO Murkrow. That’s the gimmick, but that’s it. The rest is Big-Brain. Poison Jab and Crunch for STABs. Aqua Jet priority. After Murkrow faints, you can swap in Bronzong and set up screens with that Tailwind speed. Safeguard to make Overquil status-proof. Tailwind about to end? Rain Dance! Overquil keeps speedily KOing everyone. Maybe this is overhyped or I’ve overlooked something, but who’s expecting THIS?! So here’s my offensive Overquil.

Gen 9 NU Swords Dance

Overqwil @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gunk Shot
- Crunch
- Liquidation / Aqua Jet / Spikes

A Swords Dance set Overqwil can use in Gen 9 NU. Overqwil uses Swords Dance on Rain teams in higher tiers like RU, however, this set doesn't need Rain to use a Swords Dance set. Swords Dance Overqwil picked up in usage in NU as an adaptation of Galarian Slowbro being in the tier. Swords Dance gives Overqwil a way to boost its attack stat so it can clean through teams. Gunk Shot is used since it is a powerful Poison STAB. Gunk Shot is useful to take out Pokemon such as Brute Bonnet, Florges, and Sylveon, as well as being able to 2HKO Umbreon after a Swords Dance boost. Crunch is used for the Dark STAB, being able to hit Chandelure super effectively as well as doing a good amount of damage to Pokemon who resist or are immune to Gunk Shot such as Galarian Slowbro, Palossand, Copperajah, Dragalge, Flygon, Duraludon, and Registeel. Liquidation is a nice coverage move that allows Overqwil to hit Pokemon such as Diancie, Gligar, and Mudsdale super effectively. Aqua Jet is an option to allows Overqwil to have a priority move to revenge kill faster Pokemon. Spikes is also an option for the last slot, as Overqwil can setup a hazard that can chip grounded Pokemon, which is useful vs Overqwil's checks. Tera Water is used to boost the power of Liquidation or Aqua Jet (Mainly Liquidation), though Tera Water also gives Overqwil a decent defensive typing. Leftovers is used to give Overqwil some HP recovery. Initimidate is used as the Ability since this set doesn't need rain to put in work. Intimidate lowering the attack of opposing Pokemon can also give Overqwil opportunities to setup Swords Dance. If you just want to use the standard Rain Sweeper set on manual rain teams in NU or in a tier like RU, swap Leftovers for Life Orb and use Adamant Nature over Jolly Nature, but that's only if you use this Swords Dance set on Rain teams.
