I want to pass the ruby Pokemon with the monotype challenge because I have already done it in the sixth generation and I found it very fun.
Any type is worth it except fire since in the sixth generation game I made it with that type and I would not like to repeat it

The easiest Monotype challenge is water because you can just use a Swampert and nothing else.
And if you needed anything else, there’s Pelliper for Flying. :P
depends on the challenge. Nuzlocke or just a regular playthrough?
@Flugawne its a regular one I have tried some nuzlockes in the past and lost all

I'd say water is one of the best types (and likely the single best type), because there are many useful water Pokemon in Ruby and they aren't too reliant on TMs. Good options include Swampert, Pelipper, Sharpedo, Starmie, or Golduck.

Fighting and psychic each have several useful Pokemon, but they often rely on the same TMs (ie. calm mind, bulk up, and brick break) and thus don't work as well in monotype runs.

I think Flying is also a good one to mention because of Pokemon like Swellow, Gyarados, Crobat, Skarmory, and Pelipper. Varied dual types and early game encounters mean its probably one of the easiest Monotypes to do, excluding Water.
I wouldn't recommend Crobat and Skarmory. Crobat takes a long time to evolve and has bad offensive and defensive typing, while Skarmory has low physical attack and no powerful STAB moves. Dodrio might be one of the better flying Pokemon in the game.
