With one of the most Fairy-centric metagames around and Mega Floette being the next orbital strike cannon, Mega Chimecho becomes a great option to both stifle the nuke and become a potential endgame threat if potential checks are removed. Calm Mind and Recover are the backbone of this set, with Psyshock targeting the lower physical defense of Mega Floette, especially after it boosts special defense with Calm Mind. Icy Wind can be used for speed control, but truthfully Mega Chimecho has a ton of utility options for this slot: Yawn can stop setup threats, Taunt can disrupt opponent plans (like Trick Room, I hate the giraffe), and Helping Hand can be used to act as a primary support on dual Mega compositions. 16 Speed EVs hits 101 speed, hitting 202 in Tailwind and outspeeding max speed Mega Gengar and Froslass. However, Mega Chimecho can also opt to drop speed if it isn't a concern on its team in favor of Special Attack of HP.
Because Psyshock is Mega Chimecho's only true attacking move, it struggles a lot against Dark- and Steel-types like Kingambit, Incineroar, and Archaludon. Fortunately, Mega Chimecho's Levitate synergizes greatly with strong Earthquake users, notably Garchomp and Excadrill in the current meta. In return, Mega Chimecho can use its support move of choice to facilitate their damage and, in the case of Garchomp, leverage its Fairy resistance to take on Mega Floette. Mega Chimecho's focus on special bulk also pairs nicely with Intimidate users, like Incineroar, Hisuian Arcanine, and Gyarados, with the former two capable of threatening the Intimidate-punishing Kingambit with Fire STAB and the latter acting as a potential second Mega if Mega Chimecho faces bad matchups, like Mega Charizard Y teams. Finally, speed control allows Mega Chimecho to be deceptively fast, commonly using Recover to solidify remarkable longevity. There are many common Tailwind setters in the current metagame: Whimsicott and Talonflame pack priority, Pelipper facilitates a potential Rain team that helps with Mega Chimecho's Fire weakness, and Aerodactyl is another strong option due to its high innate speed along with Rock Slide. Mega Chimecho not only benefits from Tailwind elevating its late-game threat, it also offers an alternative speed control method in Icy Wind in matchups where the Tailwind setter is unfavorable, giving options to the Hyper Offense and Offense teams commonly employing Tailwind. Taunt also helps against the Trick Room matchup that Tailwind teams hate.
If yall are doubting the effectiveness of this mon, I'm using it in Master Ball and it's real fun
