If you have a good competitive moveset for Mothim, post an answer below and upvote the best ones. Movesets for any of its pre-evolutions can also be shared on this thread.

Be sure to include full set details in your post, e.g. items, abilities, natures and EVs. Some explanation, including the intended game mode for your set, is also appreciated. Access the full list of guidelines here.

Mothim Pokédex and learnset for reference.

Gen V

Mothim (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball

Quiver Dance is Mothim's most viable setup option. Air Slash and Bug Buzz are its best STAB moves, while Energy Ball allows it to check Rock types after enough boosts.

This was exactly the set i was about to post....

But anyways good job might go for timid instead for modest because he might need the extra speed even after quiver dance but yea
Ev Trained with a 99 base ( After Quiver Dance ) Is normally enough to outspeed most, he needs the Special Attack boost to be honest.

Gen 7 (USUM)

Mothim

Mothim @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Lunge
- Aerial Ace
- U-turn
- Facade

This is a gimmicky set that uses Mothim's base 94 Attack and modest physical movepool to surprise an opponent. Lunge is its strongest physical STAB and weakens physical opponents, while Aerial Ace is the only Flying move worth mentioning. U-turn gives Mothim pivoting opportunities and Facade allows it to soak up status intended for teammates.

This is probably gimmicky but oh well.
Gen 7 ZU

Mothim (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Lunge
- Toxic / Defog
- Roost
- U-turn

Lunge is STAB that lowers the opponent's attack every time it hits. Toxic is to poison Pokémon switching in. Defog can be used instead to clear entry hazards on your side. Roost is for healing. U-Turn is for pivoting.

Mothim @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
Mild Nature
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Psychic
- Energy Ball

Choice Specs provide more immediate firepower than Quiver Dance, which is helpful if you don't expect Mothim to stick around long. Bug Buzz and Air Slash are the typical STAB moves, Psychic hits Poison types that otherwise wall this set, and Energy Ball is the best option against Rock types.
