The Beggining
A long time ago (wdym gen 6 was more than a decade ago... I'm old), in the faraway (depends on where you live ig) country of Brazil...
My first contact with the franchise was around the Gen 6 era, when my brother wanted to watch the original series of the anime on Netflix. This series, as well as the XY series and the official Pokémon website's pokédex were basically our only sources of Pokémon data. This combined with the fact I was just a kid back then meant I made a bunch of silly assumptions, like all Tentacruel being kaiju-sized (I didn't pay attention on the mutation part).
The Pokémon GO fever
GO was my first Pokémon game as far as I can remember (actually I think it was Pokémon Shuffle mobile but that barely counts). I started with Squirtle, since blue is my favorite color, and water is my favorite element (yes I watched ATLA that show is goated btw). Irc I started back in 2018, but, my progress was a little slow until 2020, (yup, the worst time to play the game) a little while after I finished my first FireRed playthrough.
The Main Series
Around the beggining of 2020, I saw a friend of mine playing Pokémon FireRed, a game I heard very little about before, on his phone. I wanted to play too, so, with his help, I downloaded the emulator and the ROM and started playing, starting with Squirtle once again. It was so fun getting to use your own Pokémon team for once and getting them to the hall of fame, so of course I did it again... and again... and suddenly I have like 50 halls of fames saved on my gallery lol. Btw I never owned (and still don't own) a nintendo console before, so I always played exclusively on emulator (and some of the mobile spinoff games too).
A database full of info
So, as it turns out, the official website's Pokédex didn't exactly have the amount of data I wanted, so I looked for another online Pokédex, when one day I found Pokémon DB's shiny dex, and since then started using this site as my main source of Pokémon data, alongside Bulbapedia, which I found sometime later. Eventually I discovered Pokébase and the moveset questions, so I logged in as BlastFury0614, posted a set for one of my favorite Pokémon, Raichu, and then became an active mamber of the DB community for quite some time.
Smogon and Showdown!
I somewhat started learning about competitive in DB, but I wanted to see what Showdown! was all about, and I played it a lot for quite some time, particularly OMs, random battles, and minor tours on the chatrooms. I'm not really that good in the grand scheme of things (I have always been a casual player), but I had a lot of fun playing, so it didn't matter.
So where tf am I rn?
A lot has changed since the last time I updated this, and I haven't been truly active here or in Showdown! for a while. I wanted to clarify what I'm doing rn, not because anyone actually cares (let's be real nobody ever did), but because I want to idk.
Turns out I'm in college now, and so I don't have as much free time as I used to back when I was a teenager. Plus, while I still have a lot of love for this franchise, I'm not as obsessed with playing the games anymore: I barely touched GO or Showdown! at all in the last two years and only played main series or rom hacks very sporadically. That being said I still watch the Pokémon anime weekly (Horizons is underrated btw) and still see plenty of Pokémon content on social media, so I haven't really missed anything.
For more recent news, as someone who spent more time then I realisticaly should've on Pokémon Showdown!, I'm super excited for Pokémon Champions and will try playing it whenever the mobile version releases (insert the "Squidward looking at the window" meme). Also, I'm super glad to see Pokémon finnaly having Brazilian Portuguese as an available language in the main series games (took you way too long Gamefreak).
I may upgrade this again whenever it's necessary (Won't promise anything tho)
