User impersonation can be really bad, so I was wondering if it is against the rules, I mean, these things could happen with impersonator interaction:

  • Confuse users to make users think that they are the original user.

  • Pretend to be a mod.

  • Even could make drama.

So, I was wondering if impersonation isn't allowed in the database.
And no, I am not blaming anyone.
- Sincerely, Choco.

I like how you put "even could make drama" at the very end, like that's the worst of all them xD
cx It's true, though.

It's not specified in the rules outright, but it's safe to say it is highly frowned upon. The reasons for this are plentiful, obvious and already stated by yourself. The rules contain warnings against roleplaying in the chatroom, but that's that.

It might not be permanently banned outright, but the user might be temporarily banned, if he/she doesn't listen to the mods. Not that it happens a lot though. People generally don't impersonate others directly. For example, if some guy with the username darktyphlosion posts crappy answers, then you know it's not the real DT. Or if someone pretends to be Rex then you know they're lying because dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years and nothing can bring them back (except InGen, but there's a trilogy of movies explaining in graphic detail why that's bad).

That said, sometimes there's confusion due to two users having the same IP address due to them being siblings, so to prevent confusion, they're asked to specify in another Meta post.

Of course, if someone's impersonating someone with bad intent, then obviously the person will be warned, and consequently, banned.

If you think someone is pretending to be someone else, you could post on a moderator's wall, and they'll check the IP address to solve the issue. For example, ƒιzz is one mod who is quite active compared to others, so you could ask him nicely to check something out for you.

Adding on to this, theres a reason that in every name change thread, theres a rule specifically stating that no username can contain "Pokemaster" in it.
Oh, okay! Tysm for the answer!
@ Squaaaaaaaaw: Yeah, I forgot about that lol. Thanks for adding to it. P.S. Your username has so many 'A's, I had to copy and paste it xD How do you even remember it?

@Choco: No problem at all! Happy I could of help! :D
Now, for fun let's go pretend we're Pokemaster (not!) JK
We've banned users for impersonation/ abuse of the name change feature before. Definitely shoot us a message if you see this.
I remember a guy who once named themselves DarkTyplosion1612 iirc, completely innocently and not aware of the mod. The actual DT came in and the 'fake' one just said I'm sorry sorry and left embarrassed.
mfw the two things I mentioned in my answer occur:

1. Guy impersonating DT AND
2. fizz responding, proving he's active af.
@PX Yeah, when I asked this question after that I thought about the innocent imposters, which impost by accident.
