I thought the whole point of closing questions was so that the person asking the question could easily find out why their question broke the rules. If you've seen your question after it was closed, obviously you know why it's closed. So why can't the question asker hide his or her own question after he/she finds out it's against the rules?

I agree, cuz you don't need to wait for an mod to hide your closed question.
