You're probably thinking that I'm either drunk or trolling, and by thinking either or both of those things you'd be dead wrong. Yeah I'm using Wartortle in OU. Deal with it.

Why Wartortle you ask? With an Eviolite it's actually bulkier than Blastoise, is completely unexpected, is a great bulky rapid spinner, and it still gets turn-by-turn recovery after every turn via Rain Dish, making up for its lack of Leftovers. People will say that rain walls such as Vaporeon and Tentacruel are better, I object because Vappy can't learn Rapid Spin, and Tenta is not as bully on the physical side, and even though it still outclasses Wartortle, I could care less, as mah Turtle is a lot more unpredictable and a lot less mainstream. The team is nothing special but it's fun to use and has gotten me some hilarious reactions of people on Shinx's server when they see me seriously using Wartortle in OU and defending it in the chat as the question it :3
This is not a gimmick team. I acknowledge it could be made slightly better by using Tenta instead of Wartortle but idc, I like the team and it's fun to use.

Wartortle's Def with given EVs after Eviolite - 369

Wartortle's SDef with given EVs after Eviolite - 348

Standard Choice Scarf Terrakion using Close Combat on my Wartortle set.

252Atk Terrakion (Neutral) Close Combat vs 252HP/112Def Eviolite Wartortle (+Def): 39% - 45% (126 - 148 HP). Guaranteed 3HKO.

Wartortle using Scald on the same Terrakion with no defensive stat drops.

0SpAtk Wartortle (Neutral) Scald in Rain vs 4HP/0SpDef Terrakion (Neutral): 61% - 72% (200 - 236 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO.

In case Terrakion has used Close Combat, this is Scald with the SDef drop factored in, OHKO after Stealth Rock. Note that Stone Edge will be dealing less damage than Close Combat.

0SpAtk Wartortle (Neutral) Scald in Rain vs 4HP/0SpDef -1 Terrakion (Neutral): 92% - 109% (300 - 354 HP). Guaranteed 2HKO. 55% chance to OHKO.

Standard Life Orb Gengar using Shadow Ball on our star.

252SpAtk Life Orb Gengar (Neutral) Shadow Ball vs 252HP/144SpDef Eviolite Wartortle (Neutral): 36% - 42% (117 - 138 HP). Guaranteed 3HKO.

Our star hitting that very same Gengar with his Scald.

0SpAtk Wartortle (Neutral) Scald in Rain vs 4HP/0SpDef Levitate Gengar (Neutral): 43% - 51% (115 - 136 HP). Guaranteed 3HKO. 6% chance to 2HKO.

2HKO after Rocks/LO Recoil

Replay of a VERY close battle in which I was 1-0'd and would have won if I had gotten 2 protects in a row on the last turn, instead of a protect then a fail :L

Ben, you aren't helping your cause >-<
I hate relying on double Protects, especially when it's my only choice.
I upvoted as well :D
objection! blastoise has more health, more speed, more attack (on both special and physical) and better moves.Plus blastoise gets the ability rain dish as well and can hold leftovers and even use aqua ring. The biggest advantage blastoise gets is his mega.It will have the same defence as eviolite wartortle but 5 less special defence than him,but what's 5 more when mega blastoise  20 more health? lastly mega blastoise is much more useable because he has much, much, much higher attack and special attack.
Also blastoise is the coolest pokemon ever!
Converting this to a comment since it's a bit short.
Also, pretty much everything you said is invalidated in the post itself. Wartortle is bulkier than Blastoise due to Eviolite and its Speed doesn't matter much being a defensive Pokemon. Its attacking stats don't matter much more either, Scald is there largely just to spread burns and not be Taunt bait, not really to deal damage. Wartorle gets Rain Dish as well (if fact he's even using it), and since this is a Gen 5 team, the fact Blastoise has a Mega means nothing.
Not saying Wartortle is better, just trying to show it's not that bad as a defensive mon.
