%X In this article the readers share the results from conversation during a morning walk with friends along a street in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The simple observation that a phenomena one might see everyday has mathematical potential became an interesting debate that quickly turned this observation into an exploration of the mathematics inherent in a common architectural detail. There are many, many similar conversations and situations in any city that can be used to encourage conversation, develop models and explore the relationships between mathematical ideas, procedures, and practices developed by the members of a community to academic mathematics. The authors of this theoretical paper developed and studied the mathematical models of the curves along a wall and to verify if the shape of these curves were related to exponential, parabolic, or catenary curves
