PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

So I'm doing a Pokemon Platinum Randomizer on my computer (I know, it's bad of me to use an emulator, and for the egg I got from Cynthia the messge that showed the hatching process stated "This egg will take a long time to hatch." I have taken 6000+ steps and the same message is displayed! What does this mean? Will the egg ever hatch?

by
probably because of the emulator
It just means that it will take a long time...just a very large egg cycle. Rare Pokemon have long egg cycles
Are you sure it was in your party? (No offence, but once I cycled around for ~2000 steps before realising I didn't have the egg in the party at all!)
I am absolutely positively sure it was in my party.  Are you saying I should keep it around?  Do legendaries have different egg messages?
If it's a Pokemon that doesn't normally hatch from an egg then the egg cycle may be glitched and it may not work at all.Or it could just take a long ass time. The egg message doesn't tell us much unfortunately.
If it's an emulator can't you use a cheat code for fast hatching?
I found the solution, by the way.  Sorry for this late response.  I used the cheat function to make the egg hatch immediately.  Turns out, it was an Azelf!  Mystery solved.  Silly randomizer.

Your problem is almost certainly because you are on an emulator.
Emulators (from what I've heard) tend to be glitchier than the original games.
The Pokemon that is in the egg (Which is a SPOILER ALERT) only takes 2805 - 3059 steps to hatch. I would say that the egg will (probably) never hatch because it is most likely a glitch with the emulator.

EDIT:
The Pokemon in the egg has 41 or more egg cycles, that is why it says "This egg will take a long time to hatch." But the Pokemon in the egg (Which is a SPOILER ALERT) does on have 41 or more egg cycles, it has 11 egg cycles.
The Pokemon in the egg must be one of these:
All legendary Pokemon except Heatran and Manaphy
Gible
Gabite
Garchomp
Dratini
Dragonair
Dragonite
Happiniy
Chansey
Blissey
Lapras
Munchlax
Snorlax
Phione
Larvitar
Pupitar
Tyranitar
Wailmer
Wailord
Relicanth
Bagon
Shelgon
Salamence
Beldum
Metang
Metagross

(Crossed out Pokemon are Pokemon that cannot hatch from an egg without hacking)
You probably got the egg from the "Unnamed Hiker" at the West Hearthome City gate. (The egg is a SPOILER ALERT.)

ANOTHER EDIT:
The egg could be any of the above Pokemon because you are playing a randomizer. (Forgot about that part.) But in the normal game it would have to be a Happiny from the "Unamed Hiker"

Hope This Helps!

Now I'm almost certain that's what the problem is
He said he got the egg from cynthia, but since this is a randomizer the egg could be anything

Since you are playing a randomizer, the egg could be anything, and not the normal Pokémon you obtain. Just be patient and keep cycling, since some Pokémon do take a really long time to hatch. Of course, since it is an emulator it could also be glitched and have extra egg cycles.

by
it could not be anything, it would have to be a Pokemon with 41 egg cycles
Its not a legit game so it could make it different egg cycles
Yes but it is based off a real game so it probably doesn't have random egg cycles
I'm just saying it could. Unless the asker specifically gives us every detail about the game, we dont know since it isnt a real game made by game freak
But thats just a theory a ga-
wait-
why am I doing this now?
