I use this set which really frustrated everyone I met
Ability: Regenerator
Ev's: Max Health and Defense, throw the rest into Special Defense
Moveset:
Toxic/Toxic Spikes (U know why)
Infestation (Traps the opponent)
Recover(Regen)
Venoshock (Offense)/Venom Drench (Stat Lowered)
I.personally use it with venom drench and stall every non poison type with the toxic and infestation, while reducing as much damage with it and using recover if the foe is still high health. Switch ONLY when the foe is on its last legs

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Type : Water / Poison
Ability : Merciless
Nature : Calm ( SpD+ Atk- ) / Sassy ( SpD+ Spe- )
EVs : 252 Hp / 128 Def / 128 SpD
IVs : 0 Atk

  • Recover
  • Venoshock
  • Toxic Spikes / Scald
  • Toxic

The whole idea about this is to poison the opponent and use Venoshock. Venoshock would be totally awesome with merciless and when the opponent is poisoned. First use Toxic, then use Venoshock. After that use Toxic Spikes so that you no need to keep using Toxic. Note that if you want to take on steel types, Scald is an option. But you will need to keep using Toxic. Recover heals Toxapex together with Leftovers, meaning he can almost never die and be more of a wall due to its high Defence and Special Defence. Max EVs in Hp and the rest in Defence and Special Defence boost Toxapex's Bulk nicely.

I totally agree with this. I mean, if a Pokemon's got an OP ability like merciless, why not use it?
Thanks :P It helped a lot
I'm not gonna be rude, but this is really good because, when are are on low HP, you can't outspeed and use Recover, so you would be dead X-X put Baneful Bunker on it, it will save you and let you regenerate a little bit of HP.
And what about poison barb?
I wondering about the EVs for my Toxapex I put 252 Special Attack and 252 for Defense. Is that good?

Don't use Merciless. Just don't. It's real damn bad. If you use Merciless Toxapex, it is a complete waste of this Defensive powerhouse of a Pokemon. A lot of people think the crits will compensate for the low base Attack/Special Attack, but the opponent needs to be poisoned, and if your opponent is poisoned, why wouldn't you just take advantage of Toxapex's high defenses to semi-stall them instead? It will save HP, and probably take the same amount of turns considering its base 53 and 63 Attack Stats. On top of that, it's also slow. If you want to use an offensive Poison Type/Water Type, use Nihilego or Gyarados or Greninja or something. Not this.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge / Rocky Helmet - Rocky Helmet and Black Sludge are both amazing on this Mon, this decision really just comes down to personal preference.
Ability: Regenerator - The ability to recover HP just by switching is an amazing tool to have, and it opens up a lot of extra opportunities for Toxapex and the rest of your team.
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD - Maximize the Defensive potential of Toxapex, helping it beat a lot of powerful physical Attackers.
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Take a little less damage from Foul Play and confusion
- Toxic Spikes - Toxapex is a great user of Toxic Spikes, since it can usually sponge up a few hits in order to set up at least one layer.
- Scald - In my opinion, Scald is probably the second best move in the game. Being able to damage the opponent while having a 30% chance to burn them, which in turn chips at their HP and halves their Attack stat, is just perfect for a Mon like Toxapex.
- Haze - Haze isn't really a necessity on a good Toxapex moveset, but it really does help in order to not be complete and utter setup bait. Resetting all stat boosts with the click of a button is another really good tool for Toxapex to be as beneficial to a team as it can.
- Recover - Recovering 50% of your HP by just clicking the gray colour is almost completely necessary for any Toxapex set.

Also, Baneful Bunker is pretty bad, at least on Toxapex. It's very predictable, and it doesn't toxic poison opponents like Toxic Spikes can. It can be used, but if it's on your moveset, you need to make sure not to just spam it mindlessly.

Oh, and Stockpile is bad too. No point in raising your already sky-high defenses even further, it won't really help you in the long run. It's not like you can sweep a team by having high defenses. It really isn't worth the loss of a precious move slot.

Role: Status inflicting wall

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Bold Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd / 4 Def
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic / Toxic Spikes
- Haze / Painful Bunker

Usage: This set is pretty much the typical bread and butter set that most people use. The HP EV's combined with the added EV's to its special defense and a bold nature, allow Toxapex to take hits very well. Recovery, regenerator, and black sludge make it all the more difficult to take it down as well. Scald is for stab and inflicting burns to compliment its bulk, recover is for healing any damage taken.Toxic is obvious, but Toxic spikes can be very useful for inflicting status especially if your opponent has no poison type to get rid of them. Haze is generally the preferred move so it can prevent opponents from setting up on it, but baneful bunker is useful for scouting, and gaining back lost hp using black sludge. Baneful bunker also poisons opposing mons that make contact with it.

Out of Baneful Bunker, Toxic Spikes, and Toxic, I chose to run Toxic on mine. Though Toxic Spikes would be my next choice. Maybe have a lvl. 1 Smeargle set up Toxic Spikes with focus sash and then switch into Mareanie.

This is prolly one of the best Poison types so far. I'd go with the following moveset:

[email protected] Sludge
Ability: Merciless
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Def/252 S.Def/4 HP

Toxic/Toxic Spikes
Venoshock
Scald
Recover/Baneful Banker/Toxic Spikes

So basically, Merciless will provide 100% critical hit probability once the foe is poisoned.
Venoshock will get 65 x 2 x 1.5 = 195 Base Power.
Scald will get 80 x 1.5 = 120 Base Power.
Recover or Baneful Banker can be used to heal and Black Sludge deals with Trick users.

Which one is better and recommend me to use? Baneful Bunker or Recover?

Role: annoying staller

Toxapex @ Blacksludge
Ability: Merciless
Calm Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 (???)
- Baneful Bunker
- Venoshock
- Stockpile / Recover
- Toxic / Recover / Toxic Spikes

Whit this set you can just spam baneful bunker while toxic chips them away.
Use venushock every other turn. If you have a stockpile set then use stock pile first. If you replace toxic with recover then keep in mind that the only way you can poison the opponent is baneful bunker.

Toxapex @ Rocky Helmet(
Ability: Merciless
Nature: Adamant(+Atk -SpAtk)
Evs: 252 hp / 64 Atk / 64 def / 128 Spd
Moves:
Baneful Bunker
Recover(Recovery)
Liquidation
Stockpile

Rocky Helmet goes well with stockpile and while you are setting up you could do some damage too. Its like protect and poisons the target quite helpful and goes well with merciless ability. Liquidation is a good move +stab better than poison jab as many peeps uses solgaleo nowdays. Stockpile is for bulk.

WTH
1) Toxic + Toxic Spikes: THATS WASTING ONE MOVE SLOT(tho everybody else seems 2 do that too)
2) Have you ever heard of something called Black Sludge? And did you forget Toxapex is half poison type?
3) You should switch Toxic/Toxic Spikes out for Venoshock: if switching out Toxic, stay with Regenator, otherwise go with Merciless. WHY TOXIC? TOXIC SUX. S-U-X.
How does toxic suck? It guarantees that your opponent will be badly poisoned if it hits. I don’t see how that’s bad.

Here's what I run

[email protected] Sludge

Toxic
Recover

Hope this helps!

WHERE ARE THE EVs?
Suggested spread: 252 Def / 32 Sp Atk / 224 Sp Def

Let's get straight into it. Nothing to fancy.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Merciless (No Limber, no Regenerator, don't ruin Toxapex's true purpose)
Nature: Bold/Calm
Ev's: 252 HP/252 DEF OR SPD/4 DEF OR SPD (SPD is Special Defense for all you noobs out there)

Moveset:
- Toxic/Toxic Spikes (Either one is viable and activates Toxapex's amazing ability to CRIT any Pokemon who is poisoned)
- Venoshock (Deals double damage if target is poisoned)
- Scald/Surf/Infestation (Scald for STAB and chance of secondary effect burn, Surf for that extra damage and STAB, Infestation because why not)
- Recover (You can't rely on that Black Sludge for everything)

NOTE: When breeding, keep in mind you should have bred a 5 or 4 IV Mareanie with it's attack stat as low as possible so it can take less damage from Confusion and Foul Play. This is a great idea for a "tanky wall status inflicting" Pokemon like Toxapex. You want to take advantage of Toxapex's walling abilities so use this to your advantage.

That is what it should be: SpD
Speed is Spe
I like to us SpDef
I like Recover. But here's a different set:
[email protected] Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Sp Def
Moveset:
Toxic Spikes
Venoshock
Scald
Stealth Rock
Weird, but it's saved my life couple thousan-tens of times in case no idi-people out there realize that Sleath Rock is AWESOME!

Toxapex @ Waterium Z
Trait: Merciless
Nature: takes siestas
EV's are 252 attack, 252 sp attack, and 4 speed
Toxic/Recover
Venoshock
Baneful Bunker
Liquidation/Scald

Toxapex is my favorite alolan Pokemon, so to me, it CANT be misused. its stats suggest a wall or sweeper, depending on the moveset. toxic or recover, I would generally pick toxic because the opponent might not use a physical move on baneful bunker. but recover is pretty good to, if you don't want to waste potions. venoshock, YES! if poisoned, it will do 120 damage, plus a critical hit via merciless! baneful bunker because its a good protecting move, plus it might poison the target. liquidation could lower its defense, making it stronger next time, but scald may burn the target. I really don't know about the items, but its always a good idea to have a wide variety of Z moves in case of different opponents. I also think that you should have attack EV's because its attack +sp atack is already low. that's pretty much the limit of my knowledge with toxapex, but I hope I helped out!

I know I'm late but you need EVs
Also I'm late but...er... Venoshock when poisoned deals 130 damage, not 120. STAB makes 195, not 180 for you noob-people out there.

Toxipex is an amazing competitive Pokemon and this is how I use mine,

Ability: merciless
Nature: modest
Moveset:
Rest
Sleep talk
Toxic/toxic spikes
Venoshock

A good double battle stay is reminding your ash-greninja mat block ( which is basically double protect) and get your toxic away

PS: I use these strats loads online and they do work

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Role: Stalling physical attacker
Ability: Merciless
Nature: Adamant (-SpAtk + Atk)

  • Toxic (can poison all foes, therefore getting critical hits)
  • Protect (Good for stalling - gives time to regain HP)
  • Pin Missile (Minimum Damage = 100 (critical hits), Maximum Damage = 250 (critical hits)
  • Liquidation (can lower defense, gets STAB)

So you wanna train your toxapex right to sweep Pokemon well I have the prefect moveset, item and other stuff. :D
Item: black sludge because it's a poison type and you shouldn't use a left overs because it's no point
Nature: Bold
Evs: 252 hp if you want it to be a heath tank or Evs: 121 in sp.defense and in defense.
Ability: Regenerator .
-scald to faint any steel types.
-toxic to poison the opponent very badly and make him take damage over time.
-painful bunker to protect you and let the poison increase damage over time
-venoschock to double the power so first it was 60 power but now the since the oppenent is poisoned it's 120 power which is a lot.
This is mostly a moveset for patient people I want to see their opponent suffer by poison the whole point is to not die by useing painful banker and let the opponent do very little damage and even if you did a wrong move thanks to its very high defense and also very high special defense it won't do a lot of damage venoshock could be a sweeper move and scald is just in case of a emergency of a steel type so you still would do damage.
By the way tell me if you think something should change. Thank you for your time reading this <3

Slow Stall Pokémon

[email protected] Sludge
Trait: Regenerator

4HP, 252 Def, 252 SpD

Nature: Bold

Moves:

Toxic (has to hit since it is a poison type Pokemon, poisons the opponent, than you can stay stalling)

Scald (STAB water type move, might burn opponent, making your defense effectively doubled)

Haze (i've done this much times, but with the attacker. I tried to swords dance twice, thrice even, just for he to haze me. with haze, you can counter much swords dance earthquakers (most common attack) and kill them with the poison/scald)

Recover (recover + regenerator. this is for you healing 80% of health in 2 turns. see this? this will make you unkillable).

Stall it.

Second favourite Pokémon overall, so I'd love to give my two cents!

Merciless
Sassy
252 Def and SpD, 4 HP
Baneful Bunker/Recover
Toxic
Venoshock
Liquidation/Scald
Black Sludge

The goal is to poison the enemy no matter the cost and stalling them to death with this Pokémon usually. With its Ability, it can also effectively be offensive as well! Sassy brings down its only useless stat and brings its lower Special Defence slightly higher than its Defence. Bunker and Recover serve the purpose of surviving as long as possible, one by stopping hits, the other by recovering from them. I prefer Baneful Bunker since it also lets me poison the opponent which is very important. Toxic does what it does best: badly poisons the opponent which is preferable but not necessary. After that, it's about how to best take down your opponent. Venoshock for sure when using Poison moves since it doubles in power when the opponent is poisoned (which it will be). A must for any offensive Toxapex. I prefer Liquidation since it give a Physical option when going against Special walls, but Scald is also an option if you think Physical threats will be a problem. The IVs are to boost its best stats as much as possible while the item lets it recover between moves. Pairs up very nicely with Baneful Bunker as an annoyance.

Hope you consider this! I absolutely love Toxapex and will keep it in my team for a long time to come as well!!

Toxabest
[email protected] berry
Ability: merciless
EVS: 252 defence, 252 sp.def, 6 atk
Nature: sassy
Moves:
Liquidation
Poison jab
Stockpile
Recover
Another moveset by verlisify, this is a god moveset. So you start stockpiling to make them not damage yo at all and if they get you below half hp(after five hours jk), your health goes back up, if it happens again then you recover. Once that happens then you start poison jabbing in order to poison then liquidation to slaughter them.

answered by
eh, i think the other sets above are much much better.
Ok that is ur opinion that is ok. Me to. My fave that I use is number to but for a beginner it is good to check out verlisify but beware to not do all he says Cuz wellllll, you will see
verlisify isn't even good for beginners, he will confuse the flup out of them lol
True now that I think of it. Bye
here is my stall set for toxapex
