Im debating between two move sets for my ampharos and they're pretty similar but I'm wondering which would be better.

Current Moves
Item: Magnet
- Thunderbolt
- Charge
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power (Water)

Alternative Moves
Item: WideLens
- Thunder
- Charge
- Signal Beam
- Focus Blast

Thank you!!

Definitely don't use hidden power. Its base power is random, so you might be stuck with a 30 power move unless you spend some time searching for a good hidden power. Also thunder wave is better than charge.
Also this is for battling in-game trainers, right? Or something else?
OP probably would've said so if it was competitive. There's also HGSS in the tags, so I believe its for ingame.

I wouldn't use either of them. Choosing a Hidden Power type and getting a strong one is incredibly time-consuming. The 10% boost from Wide Lens equates to 77% accuracy on Thunder and Focus Blast, which is a very small improvement. I'd instead go with some sort of a mix between the two.

Here's a set I'd recommend

Ampharos
Ampharos @ Magnet
- Thunderbolt
- Power Gem
- Focus Blast
- Thunder Wave

Assuming this is just for in-game trainers, I think signal beam is the worst of Ampharos's 3 special coverage moves. It's useful against Will and not really anyone else. Power gem is useful against Lance, which is much more threatening than Will.
You shouldn't be using moves that have any accuracy that isn't 100% in a playthrough, specifically given that focus blast has 5 pp.
Ampharos really doesn't get any better moves. Also what's this weird phobia of below 100% accuracy moves you've been experiencing?
Focus blast is Ampharos's best option against Pryce, Jasmine, Archer, Bruno's Onix, and Karen's Umbreon and Houndoom.
