Do SOS chains get messed up if a different Pokemon is called?

Question

I’m doing a Bonsly chain but Happiny and Sudowoodo also get called. When this happens, does it mess up my chances at a shiny Bonsly? I've got over 400 KOs and I have been doing it for about four days, which is why I'm wondering if I have very bad luck or if when Happiny or Sudowoodo are called, my chain is broken?

The caller calling a Pokémon that is not of the same family as the caller does not break the chain.
