I’m looking to see what single attacking type deals super-effective damage to the highest number of defending dual-types, unused combos included. Additionally, I’d like to know which type, if it’s not the same, is super-effective against the highest number of Pokémon currently in the national dex, Regional Variants, Megas, and newly-revealed Pokémon from Legends included.

I'll try to answer that, although it will take me a while
I think there's a quick way to figure it out on this site but I don't know how

Information has been taken from the Pokemon DB dual-type chart and I have used some extensive Excel magic to calculate my results. Note that this chart lists type double-ups twice (e.g. Fire/Normal and Normal/Fire) so they have been filtered out accordingly.

So the most offensively super-effective type across all possible type combinations is the Ground-type, with 55 super-effective matches! Here is the whole list for reference:

  1. *Ground (55)*
  2. Rock (48)
  3. Ice and Fire (44)
  4. Fighting (40)
  5. Flying, Fairy and Water (39)
  6. Steel (36)
  7. Ghost (30)
  8. Psychic and Dark (28)
  9. Grass and Bug (27)
  10. Electric (26)
  11. Poison (24)
  12. Dragon (16)
  13. Normal (0)

And across only the used type combinations, again Ground-type is the winner:

  1. *Ground (48)*
  2. Ice and Rock (41)
  3. Fighting (40)
  4. Fire (38)
  5. Water and Fairy (34)
  6. Flying (33)
  7. Steel (30)
  8. Ghost (29)
  9. Electric, Bug and Dark (26)
  10. Grass and Psychic (23)
  11. Poison (21)
  12. Dragon (15)
  13. Normal (0)

This was fun to calculate!
Hope I helped. :)
