How do you find professor Birch in Pokèmon OR/AS?

I don’t have a 3ds yet so I started playing an emulator and I couldnt find out where he was. I’ve played the original games but the way to find the proffessor is different in this game apparently.

Did you remember to first visit Professor Birch's home and then meet May/Brendan upstairs before heading to Route 101? From experience, you can't head to that Route without doing so.

Same way as the original GBA games. After you’ve done the boring dialogue with your mom in your home, go to Brendan/May’s house (depending on whether your character is female/male respectively), walk upstairs and a cutscene will ensue.
After this, you are able to access route 101. Here you can find Prof. Birch being chased and you can pick a starter. Unless you’re referring to another part.
